Wedding colors, looking for ideas. ?

Ok here is my idea for my color scheme of my future wedding. Close your eyes and imagine this. I want to have my centerpieces be fish bowls (globes) with teal (or aqua) stones in the bottom and a single gold fish in them. I want a very clean look with white linens and the accent colors to be mainly the teal and goldfish orange. Anyone have any ideas as to what color flowers I could use? I am thinking a shimmery teal color for the bridesmaids dresses (I think davids bridal calls it "pool") b/c I dont want too much of the orange, just maybe in the flowers and other small accents.... Any recommendations you could make would be greatly appreciated and considered! thanks :0)

  1. Ask your fiance how he feels about the colors...I say u should have everything matching.....clean...whatever u choose I am sure it will be perfect

  2. I think it sounds beautiful.  If you are looking into doing mostly white linens and that beautiful teal color for the bowls with just a little bit of an orange accent, I would have the bridesmaids in that teal color to match the fishbowls and give them white flowers.  This will tie them into the linens, AND your dress.  As far as your bouquet goes, go with a dozen white roses, a dozen teal roses, and maybe a few little orange lilies.  I think a pearl necklace would also match wonderfully, especially for your bridesmaids.  Even fake pearls (nice ones) would be a gorgeous gift for them as well!

I think it sounds beautiful, elegant, and not girly at all.

As far as "fish p**p" goes.. that's just ridiculous.  Just make sure the bowls are clean before using them as centerpieces.. fish don't p**p that much.  We had beta fish on one of our tables in our wedding and it was awesome.

  3. I suggest avoiding fish centerpieces.  Many, many guests find fish p**p unattractive while eating.

Aqua and chocolate brown looks good.  Or your aqua and orange would be fine.

  4. Your wedding sounds like it'd be so beautiful!! When I think of it, I think of something beachy:

  5. I've been addicted to theknot.com on planning my wedding. It has all the same ideas that are in magazines and more without the price of the magazines. I think this sounds like a cute, fun Idea. A think good fish would be a fun was to incorporate the color orange from your scheme into the reception! Good luck!

  6. Did you see the movie The Wedding Planner? Rent it, and take notes. Gold fish bowls are ok and different, But what are you going to do with the fish after the wedding? Teal and yellow is a very pretty color combo. Good Luck.

  7. That is an AWESOME idea! I work in a flower shop and so I hope I can be of some help to you. Teal is one of my favorite colors and we use it a lot in bridal bouquets and the like. Luckily, you can pull some of the orange from the goldfish and put it into your bouquets. For example, you could have your bridal bouquet made up in mainly white or cream flowers, and then have some orange flower accents added. Lucky for you, many different  varieties of flowers come in all different shades of orange. You could have some orange spray roses (they're called Mambo spray roses-- they're tiny and bright orange!) added to your bouquet and they would really look great with the goldfish. Circus roses are bright orange roses that are tinged with some yellow and red shades. Miracle roses are a bright melon orange-- they're very clean looking because the orange is distributed evenly throughout the rose. It looks as though the rose was perfectly dipped in a beautiful orange paint! You could have your bridesmaids' bouquets done opposite yours, with all orange flowers and some cream and white accents, perhaps, or whatever you like. We do a lot of beach themed weddings where I work and so we use seashells in a lot of our bouquets. You could have your florist spray paint some sand dollars, starfish or other shells teal/pool blue and have them sprinkle some shimmery diamond dust over the tops for a beautiful, clean tropical look. You could also have your fiance and his groomsmens' boutonnières be orange roses with a touch of teal seashell. You could have your bouquets wrapped in a teal ribbon and braided in a white ribbon. Braiding gives the bouquet a nice touch and ties in all the colors. Or you could do it vice versa, as wrapped in a white ribbon and braided in teal. You could even have it braided in orange. Also, goldfish come in a variety of colors, and so maybe at the head table, you could have a white goldfish, or a black one, or a speckled one! Also, at our flower shop we do a lot of flower arrangements in round glass bowls we call bubble bowls-- they're basically fish bowls! They're perfect for the look you're going for because they're clean and perfectly round, rather than the plastic unshapely ones you might find at pet stores. Your florist will probably be willing to rent them to you for a fee so you could save money on buying them all. Good luck!

  8. The right shade of blue and orange can look great.

Here you see how it looks different with a pool blue, and one more of a light teal/aqua. I like a pool blue better.
