Question:

Wedding colours?! Ivory, silver, hot pink - is adding orange too much?!?

Help! The dress I fell in love with is ivory with a metallic lace overlay and I'm getting married in September... firstly, would it look better to incorporate silver elsewhere to keep with the lace overlay? Secondly, I like the idea of hot pink and orange for flowers/ bridesmaids etc, but is it too much - ivory, silver, hot pink and orange?! (I'm not very good with these things!) Many thanks for any ideas.

  1. No orange with those colors!

  2. id also say leave outthe orange but the rest sounds lovely!

    good luck with your wedding

  3. You don't have to incorporate your wedding gown colors into the scheme. They're usually something colorful, pink, blue, etc, like you said.

I think hot pink and orange are a little obnoxious. Maybe tone it down to hot pink and gold?? Just looks a bit classier, but still fun.

    CONGRATULATIONS!  =)

  4. I begged the differ from what others have said...

I think the orange would add that pop of color;making it fun, funky & different...

  5. You can easily do it but you need to make sure it's done right. You just need to find a color that would ground the rest and not add more.

Keep silver as very very subtle highlights/accents like pins, etc and keep it to a minimum. Keep ivory as fillers.

Ground orange and pink with either black or ivory.

Bridesmaids: pink dresses and for bouquets: pink flowers wrapped in orange satin ribbon.

For your own bouquet make it a big pink and orange bouquet, add a bit of ivory as fillers with ivory satin (french braided) with a beautiful bow and silver pins.

  6. None of those colors go right together ...which ones do you like better??

  7. the orange might be a bit too much but the rest sounds great.  good luck

  8. no..take oout the orange. not only is it too much but i dont think hot pink and orange would look good

  9. Leave the orange out, i think that would be to much. The orange and pink would clash and wouldnt match with the others, the ivory, silver, and hot pink would look great!

    Congrats!

  10. leave out the orange, the rest sounds great. congrats and good luck. xx

  11. hot pink and orange are very 'now' AND look stunning.

If in doubt, take a look around any childrens' clothes department and you will see this combination everywhere (lol, it's my 1st Grand-daughters' 1st summer - she's 9months next week - and I could almost tell you which store, which rack etc !!!!)

Talk to florists - they will be soooooo excited by the idea.

I promise you that you will be stunning and with those 'happy' colours your day will be spectacular and ... do you want YOUR wedding YOUR way or to go the 'boring' route of white everything with pink roses ???????

GO FOR IT GIRL and enjoy!

    best wishes, H x

p.s. for anyone who had white everything with pink roses ... I love them too!

  12. if its just for the flowers i think you could but not too much. but also i think it be fine without orange if you wanted to go on the safe side

  13. Hot pink, orange and ivory could be really cool, but skip any additional silver.

  14. No, no, no woman not hot pink and orange!!!  pale pink and pale orange is better and it wont blind the guests lol

  15. its ur wedding, u can do whatever u want...I dont see a problem with all of those colors, I think it will look good. if u go on theknot.com u can check out all sorts of color ideas. what color are the bridesmaid dresses??

  16. Since it's in September, i would lose the hot pink and stick with orange and red for fall colors.  I don't think you need to add silver to anything, but if you decide to, its easy enough to do.

  17. I think orange and hot pink would clash together. The others are good, though. Congrats!

  18. leave the orange.

    and congrats.

  19. What's funny is I was just asking someone this today. Our colors are hot pink, white and black. I'm thinking of scraping the black and using orange as the accent color JUST because I liked the flowers!

  20. Honestly I think hot pick and orange look too much like each other. I would choose one or the other, probably hot pink. This would stand out great next to the ivory and silver. You could incorporate some silver for your centerpieces (silver candleholders) and silver ribbon tying the flowers together for you and your bridesmaids. Leaving the orange out will make your color scheme less summery.
