we had to move our wedding to a church, its in the fall and i have all the fall theme stuff, the church is very small and plain.

the altar is has 2 steps and then an open platform and then a small walll and then the choir seats behind that, would it be ok to have an archway or is something else i could use to decorate that more( would pillars be ok?)

also the banquet hall, i have tons of leaves and flowers

what about doing 2-3 things of hay with pumpkins, and centerpieces,

any pictures would be great, thanks:)

  1. You need to talk to the minister of the church as to what you can do as far as decorating goes.  And you'd have to make arrangements for someone to take them down after wards.  The other things sound great for the reception.  You can use those tiny little pumpkins at each place setting, maybe to hold name tags.  Don't forget Indian corn is very colorful as well as dried cornstalks.  You can use pumpkins as flower holders too, like a vase.  And don't forget squash, they come in a lot of colors and shapes too.

  2. Having an archway or decorated columns would be nice. You could use ferns and other greenery to decorate and even fall colored candles or tulle. Another way to tie in the theme would be to have your flower girl toss real or artificial fall colored leaves down the aisle instead of flower petals. If there is a Hobby Lobby store in your area you can gets lots of ideas by just walking through the store. The hay bales sounds like a cute idea. Fall colored fruits such as red and green apples or oranges in clear containers or vases would be nice centerpieces or decoration. The fall theme is very popular and you can find good ideas as well as beautiful pictures in bridal magazines.

  3. My church has a similar floor plan to what you described, and I think that you could use either the arch or the pillars.  I've seen both at my church & they are both beautiful when done right.   As for your decor, since we don't really know what you like or don't like, i would suggest going to www.theknot.com and looking through their photos.  There are tons of wedding/reception decor photos to browse through from all times of the year and with all ranges of colors & themes.

    Congratulations on your marriage!

    Many blessings!

  4. I would be careful with Hay, a lot of people (like myself) have very very bad allergy's and you would have an emergency on your hands.
