Wedding dress and bridesmaid? Cost?

My best friend is getting married.

She asked me to be her maid of honor.

She is getting married 7/3/10.

I am getting married 10/10/10.

She is my maid of honor.

How much did you pay for your wedding dress?

How much were your bridesmaid dresses?

My bridal gown was under $600 and the bridesmaid gowns all varied because everyone chose a different black dress.  Some were $50 and some were $150.

A friend of mine got married last month and she used the same colors for her wedding as another bridesmaid, so they managed to reuse some of the dresses and purchase a few extras second hand.  With the number of people who have used David's Bridal in our area, it was relatively easy to find extra dresses in their color.

I had to pay for my own Bridesmaid dress (even though the bride [my sister] is really rich), David's Bridal forced me to get 2 sizes too big (I know why, now) and luckily my Grandma did alterations for free.

But it was about $150 after tax.

My sister's wedding dress from David's Bridal was $600 or $700 and $300 for alterations.  Again, David's Bridal just finding ways to rip people off. NEVER go there! They aren't even nice, too.

And let me just tell you... being a bridesmaid is REALLY setting me back some. And making me cynical towards weddings. Honestly... I'd rather buy a house than spend 20k on ONE DAY that barely anyone would remember.

Maybe I'm just a cheap person, but that just makes me wise. The most expensive dress I ever bought was $50 for a homecoming dance, and I wore that dress at least to 3 different dances. My cheapest dress was $4.50 for winter formal and it was awesome and went with the theme :)

Overall, this wedding, just to be in it, is costing me WELL over $400.

Who needs a new car when you can be in a freaking wedding for a couple hours? I mean, just because the car is breaking down and falling apart, doesn't mean you need a new one. (sarcasm noted...)

I paid 200.00 for wedding dress and bridesmaid and maid of honor bought their dresses.You can find some nice bridesmaid dresses at Palais Royale,JC Penny and Macys for under $70.

Well its such a range you can do inexpensive to exstravaent plus it depends if you go for retail or boutique and designer.

My wedding dress was $499

the bridemaids dresses are $129

I'm getting married next July 4th, and my dress was $750.  I haven't found bridesmaid dresses that I loved, but I had an idea of what I wanted.  I found a pattern that was perfect, and bought the material. My mother is going to make them.  The total cost (for 7 bridesmaids, yes, 7) was only $200.  I get the dresses I love and it was so cheap!

i know this sounds odd, but asda do a range of cheap options of weddings, the wedding dress cost 40 pounds and brides mades ones cost 25 !!!! its good, they do cake too! lol

I ordered my dress from china through e-bay and paid about £150 including delivery.  I am more than happy with it.

Im not sure about bridemaids dresses yet - i've still got to get those!

$875. My mom bought it for me. She will be doing the alterations.

How much were your bridesmaid dresses?

$160. I am putting $100 of my own money toward each so the girls only have to pay $60.

I got my wedding dress at David's Bridal.  My wedding dress was close to $1000.00 but that was after all alterations and the veil, undergarments, and headpiece (Which is so expensive at David's - I wouldn't recommend getting it there!-- but I didn't know any different at the time! )

For my bridesmaids I had them wear a black, knee length dress.  They picked up any style, from any place.  I  know my sister only paid $17 for a dress on clearance, and one of my friends already had that style of dress she could wear!  It looked really great though!

I've paid $200-$250 for bridesmaid dresses before.  Especialy when you have to get them altered the price is even higher.  But, for my bridesmaids I bought them for $125 a piece.  I went looking during homecoming dress season and found some great dresses that were cheaper than the ones in the bridal shop.  They're weren't too "teenage" looking either.  My wedding dress was about $400 from David's Bridal.  I felt like I got a great deal on it.  David's Bridal is nice because they have dresses in all sizes.  Lots of places just carry 10's and you have to use that as your judge then they'll order your size.  I didn't get my dress altered there.  I would ask around for a good person for that.
