  1. I am getting married May of 09. I decided instead of giving a cheesy overpriced favor(bells, stinky cheap soap, somethiong with my name on it that they will never use) I am giving each guest a small bag or box, and letting them fill it at a candy buffet. They are a buffet of clear containers filled with a variety of sweets and treats. It is very inexpensive. In fact, since my wedding is right after Easter, I will be able to get pastel colored candy on sale. You could utilize Easter, Valentines day, Halloween or Christmas. Match the candy to your color or theme. Google candy buffets to see some more examples.

  2. we are doing jam, i got the jars 75 for $30 and my grandma is doing homemade jam, with some raffia and a nice tag=$40 and its not big jars its small and people can use the jars after the jam, also getting some organza bags and filling them with dinner mints and peanuts!!

  3. For my wedding I made up favor bags with jelly beans, and M&M's in my wedding colors.  People seemed to love them.

  4. My colors are Fuschia & Espresso. I also did the Jelly Belly's and M&M's (along with other pink & brown candies- Rootbeer barrels, pink taffy, Frooties, etc...) in little cellophane clear bags with shimmery fuschia & espresso paper stapled at the top (with pink staples of course!), and an "S" embossed (for our last name).

  5. I say put candy in a bag. The mints things at weddings are good.

    Make them jelly, cookies.

What else I am going to do for my bridesmaids is that once the reception is over I am going to let them take home flowers since I am going to have a lot of them as a centerpieces and it would be better use than me having them or in the trash.

    Good Luck on your wedding.

  6. go to a dollar store, buy photo frames that can double as table place settings, and the guests can then use the frames to put the thank you photo into.  Or get tea candles and candle holders, tie 'em with matching ribbon. Keep in mind, most people don't know what to do with an expensive wedding favour, so make it something they can use, or toss out without feeling guilty!

  7. Something edible!  Hershey's Kisses and Jelly Beans are less expensive and more appreciated than a keychain with you and your husband's name engraved on it.

Are there any local, regional cadies or treats that you could use?  Chocolates, truffels, taffy, even a local bakery that makes special cookies would be great favors.

The fruit soda pop Izze is made near where we live.  If we had given favors at our wedding, I probably would have done this.  Instead, we donated the money to charity and had a small explanation at the entrance to our wedding about it for our guests.  Most of them thought it was a great idea and were happy they didn't have some trinket they'd have to shove in a drawer somewhere...

EDIT:  Forgot - you can personalize M&M's now as well, which I think is a really cute and fun favor:  http://www.mymms.com

  8. Bookmarks are great and they are not very expensive. They work great if a hole is punched in the top and tie some ribbon through the hole..color of wedding.

  9. Please dont do anything corney like "keepsake picture frames" or C.D.s filled with love songs because honestly nobody really wants those. I recommend either giving candy ,lottery tickets, or alcohol. Out of all the weddings I've been to, people seem to respond the best to favors they can enjoy ! Congrats !

  10. We are not doing wedding favors because the "cheap" ones just get thrown away or left at the reception.

    Some ideas:

    Home Baked Cookies

    CD of the Wedding Songs

    Candies

  13. Congratulations!  My wedding was in June.  I used wildflowers in my centerpieces and the favors were packets of wildflower seeds.  At the end of the night just about every pack was gone.  I've been to so many wedding were people didn't take the favors.  The best was when my cousin emailed to say she had planted the seeds.

Enjoy the ride to your big day!
