Wedding favors? Help!

So I found this cute little idea for wedding favors. It's a lottery ticket in a very elegant looking small envelope, on the cover it says "Wishing you riches from the mister and misses." My mom says its tacky. I think its cute. What do you think?

  1. That's a great idea. It's always good to do something that is unique as a favor b/c people will remember that, especially if it's a lotto ticket and they WIN...lol..they'd love you even more.

  2. that's what i did for my wedding!!! http://www.goodthingsweddingfavors.com/i...

a few people won some money, so it was fun!! everyone had a good time scratching off their ticket.  i didn't think it was tacky.

  3. Just my personal opinion, I don't expect anyone or everyone to agree, or disagree, it doesn't really matter, that's why they call it an opinion, lol. And you asked for that so here it is. I know periodically people give scratch and win or lottery tickets to acquaintances or friends for gifts. I really don't know that I'd call it tacky but I think it takes very little thought. I think for the amount of money you can spend on something else that has more meaning, it would be worth more receiving it than a lottery ticket, and especially for something like a wedding. Like a good luck charm, some jade, or dream catcher, or healing crystals, or something else you can think of, that will be personally meaningful to each person that gets it. Lottery tickets are not about luck, they are about law of probability. I don't think a lottery ticket conveys the closeness and thought you put into inviting these special people to share your special day in the first place. So again, I don't think it's tachky, really ,but it doesn't represent the specialness of each person you invited to share in your special day, like say, a fridge magnet even  that will always be on their fridge to remind them of that special day they shared with you. Or a dream catcher hanging in their bedroom window, and they look up and see where they got it every time.

If it's going to be a favour that doesn't get eaten or used right away, I say why not make it something that will be a pretty reminder of your special day? That lottery ticket (the 900 thousand 999 that weren't winners) will end up in the trash. One person who wins, will remember who got them the lottery ticket (hopefully lol).

  4. I think it is a very cute idea!

  5. It's not your mom's wedding day. It's yours. I think it's cute too.

  6. How is that tacky?  I think its great.  Who doesnt like lottery tickets and a chance to win some cash?  I know I do.  and as far as tacky goes, I would rather get a lotto ticket when something with the bride and grooms name written all over it that will just end up let on the table or thrown in the trash.  At least if any favours get left over you have some scratching to do and a chance to win!

  7. I think it is better than bubbles, candy or some dinky gift that gets left at the reception or thrown away when they get home.

  8. i like that idea myself, and remember its your day not your moms !

  9. I love that idea! My family loves scratch tickets, my fiance and I love to go to the casino (as does his family) - thanks for sharing! Favors that are more consumable are certainly my preference. My friends gave personalized playing cards to everyone - who doesn't need cards around their house?
