I don't know the etiquette with this sort of thing..

  1. I had two places I was registered at. It is important it have different price ranges so people have a variety of choices. I would pick a high end store such as Macy's and a lower end store such as Bed, Bath and Beyond

  2. I think one to two places is sufficient.  I would have one place be something like Bed, Bath and Beyond or Macy's and have a majority of your items on it.  Then, I would pick a different store for items you can't really get at those places.  So, a place like Pier 1 or William Sonoma.

When you get to have more than 2 registries you look greedy and it just leaves too many options for guests.  They don't know where to go.  When my friend had her baby shower, she registered at Babies R Us and Pottery Barn Kids.  I knew the stuff in Pottery Barn was more expensive and I knew it was more of the linens and furniture stuff.  So, I stuck with Babies R Us.

It was an easy decision.  So, that's why I think it's good to have two at the most.  One that practical and the other that's more fun or upscale.  But, anything more than two is pushing it.

  3. Most people have 2 or 3 because of either pricing (making sure everyone can afford what you ask for) or because of location. Maybe someone doesn't have a bed bath and beyond near them.

If you don't want a lot of things (maybe you've lived together for a while, or maybe you have both lived on your own for while) then maybe ask people to make a donation to a charity (that you guys choose) in your name.

  4. Depends on what you want. If you want crystal, china, luxury items, then pick something upscale, like Macy's. If you want moderately priced things, Penny's,  crate and barrel, Kohls. If you want people to get the most for their money, Walmart.

Target,  Bed Bath  is fine, so is anywhere else that has a gift registry.

Two or three is fine to register at.

  5. I read somewhere to have 3 or 4 in different price ranges. Like maybe one at WalMart, one at JC Penney and one at Crate & Barrel. That way your guests have options and there is sure to be one of those stores near them. I personally think that 4 is overkill. I had 4 and got rid of one. Don't choose Target as one. Alot of the girls around here are saying they wont return or exchange anything without a receipt, even if it's from your registry.

  6. I would register at no more than 3 places. It gives the guest variety, plus if you have out-of-towner's, they may not have one store in their area; it gives them a variety. Be sure to register for gifts in different price ranges in order to accommodate the guests budget.  I would register at Wal-mart, and maybe a nice department store that has china (if you are planning to use china) such as Dillard's Macy's.

  7. I think TOPS would be three. I did 2- one "higher end" registry (Crate and Barrel) and one cheaper one- Target. Got almost everything I needed!

  8. Actually, I think three is about right. That gives your guests more of a choice for which stores they want to shop in. Just pick items in a variety of price ranges at all of them in order to accommodate different budgets. I registered at Target, JCPenney, and WalMart.

  9. I wouldn't have more than 2 different places. They should be retail stores that most people have around them.

  10. You can do Crate and Barrel, Macy's, or target. You can do two places to give people more options.

    Good luck!

  11. What ever places you choose are fine. Just make sure that you don't scan duplicates of what you need, unless you want them to be duplicates. I think that you can choose all four stores if you want, and I don't think it's rude at all. It just gives people more choices on what store they can choose themselves to shop at. Also some of your guests may have a Koals credit card and another Target and another JC Penneys and another Bed Bath and Beyond. I think the more stores the better.

  12. You can have as many as you want. I know some that have had 3...Bed, Bath, & Beyond, Macy's, and Traveler's Joy...I only want 1...it keeps it simple...Target!

  13. If you are thinking about multiple registries, may I suggest a company that will create a combined single registry from different stores for you.  At the I Do Foundation, you create a registry from a list of partner stores.  When someone purchases an item off the registry, a donation is made to a charity of your choice.  Not only do you get the items you want from different stores, but you are helping people in need at the same time!

If they don't have the charity you want on the list, there is an area where you can suggest a charity...  you just have to explore the website.
