i will be getting married soon and my fiance and i decided that we didnt want the traditional wedding march. instead we want to go with something a little more modern but something that is appropriate. i would also like some suggestions on what we could play at our reception. we are an interracial couple and he enjoys rap and hip hop i too am a fan of these genres but i would like something that is eclectic.

please if you have any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated...thanks

  1. i would recommend Ne-Yo for your wedding reception. Ex: closer, so sick of love songs or you could do mario: let me love you.

  2. i dont know if your a christian or into religion but my song i got a lot of compliments and if you want your new hubby to cry it's the perfect song...it's called 1,000 miles by Mark Schultz.....trust me it's perfect....here are the lyrics:

    MARK SCHULTZ - 1,000 Miles

    Album : Broken & Beautiful (2006)

    I would walk 1,000 miles

    1,000 miles it’s true

    I would walk 1,000 miles

    Just to be with You

    [Chorus:]

‘Cause you’ve got my heart and you’ve got my soul

    You’ve got this promise too

    I would walk 1,000 miles

    Just to be with You

If I could write 10,000 songs

    10,000 songs it’s true

If I Could write 10,000 songs

I’d Sing them all for you

    [Chorus:]

‘Cause you’ve got my heart and you’ve got my soul

    You’ve got this promise too

If I could write 10,000 songs

I’d Sing them all for you

If I could live 100 years

    Before my life is through

If I could live 100 years

    I’d spend them loving You

    [Chorus:]

Cause You’ve got my heart and you’ve got my soul

    You’ve got this promise too

If I could live 100 years

    I’d spend them loving You

  3. now a days, anything seems to go so I wouldn't worry to much about what song you pick as long it's something you both love. My husband and I have very different taste in music but we both love the song lullaby by creed and always listen to it while driving down the coast so we decided to dance to that because it meant alot to us! As for the reception we played some classic stuff for the older people so they had a chance to enjoy themselves before going to bed and it gave the young people a chance to have some drinks and mingle and then later switch it up with some more up to date r&b stuff and a mix of the things you love!! :)

  4. the theme from 'just married' with ashton kutcher.

  6. It is very appropriate to have a different song than the wedding march to walk down the isle too. It's all about you.... you are the BRIDE walking to be given away to your husband.  So pick something that means something to you.  I would say a hip hop or rap song would not be good!!! but I'm sure you know that...it's always good to play a mix of music at your reception.  Undoubtedly there will be young and old at your wedding.. mix in some tunes for the older ones as well.  Don't change your style because it's a wedding, play the music you both love.. THe bride and groom should set the tone. So if you want people to dance then you two need to stay on that dance floor!!!

  7. For the recessional (when you are marching out after the wedding) I suggest "When I'm 64" by the Beatles.

  8. Itunes makes it easy, go to ITunes Essentials - then My Groove - then Indie Wedding (sorry, I don't think I can link directly to it).  There are also lists for "Wedding Reception" "Wedding Ceremony" and "Wedding First Dance Songs".
