  1. Hi there,

If you still want to elope i would recommend going to a common wealth country and preferably one that speaks English !!!! this will save you time and loads of money as you wont need solicitors to verify documents or legalise them oh and you wont have to pay to get them translated either......

I know you say money is tight, not wanting to be nosey, how tight ? because this will determine where you can go hun. We are going to Kenya for 2 weeks all in and it's only cost £2k.... so much cheaper than a marquee on a lawn in England......... and because it's common wealth you just send a copy of your documents 12 weeks before you go and hey ho....... (this is as long as there are no name changes and you are both single.) If you are both single you will need an affidavit from a solicitor to state this, but this should cost you no more than a tenner !!!!

Good luck with what ever you decide !!! (please don’t decide Gretna - like a prev post said it's like your on a conveyor belt, one in one out, Gretna has lost all it's magic and charm now, it's just a money making thing now) xx

  2. If money is tight why not set urself a real challenge. And barter for ur wedding! I heard of a couple doing this recently. They didnt pay for a single part of their day, they traded their services for every part of their wedding... i.e helped with the sunday school at the church to pay for the church. done advertisement work for their flowers. Its important to note that they were not trained in any areas of the work they done. Provided pictures of them in there outfits for the shops portfolios for the suits and dresses. Done modeling work for the photographer. You can also get friends and family to help out with things like arranging the flowers, or designing place cards. This gets them really envolved in your wedding also.

I think its a truely novel way of doing ur wedding. and certainly would be different. Not only that, it would also give you and your partner something completely different to do together, and will help to strentghen wot is obviously already a very strong bond.

Best wishes for you and your partners future life together

  3. My sister has just got married in Gretna(Saturday2nd). It ain't that cheap, and its very much like a conveyor belt.Microwaveable weddings!

If your looking for somewhere unique, why not try a lighthouse. Its on the front page of our local paper today! Its the most NE point in Scotland, so it'll be chilly.

    Their website is www.buchanesslighthouse-holidays.co.uk

Haven't got a clue about cost etc. Hopeyou find something unique.x

  4. Try this one for something novel, it's beautiful (Cornwall)

  5. Hey there, sorry that your plans have been ruined but I think you can still have your wedding at other countries, how about Mauritius?  It will be summer here soon and it's one of the best place for honeymoon, it'll be all in one :) (and you'll keep your eloping idea)

  6. Maybe it is a cliche but you could try Gretna Green in Scotland!

  7. Why not try what I had for a wedding - a handfasting.

I had to have a registry wedding first but then this after.  Attached link to guy who did ours.

    Have a lovely day
