Question:

Wedding in Ochos Rios- Couples Resort?

I am in the process of planning a destination wedding. We started out with Sandals in the Bahamas. However, after looking on a few other site (i.e. trip advisor) I'm thinking about switching up. After much research I came accross Couples Resort. But I havent been able to find any photos of wedding locations etc. If anyone has had any experience with them please write back. Any information is good.

Thanks!

  2. Oh wow! Its so funny you asked! My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon at Sandals, Ocho Rios.

It was GORGEOUS. We had a huge wedding here in Charlotte, NC...but we wished we would have gotten married there at Sandals! We saw several weddings a day, all with a beautiful caribbean view that would blow your mind. The staff is extremely helpful and kind...they go the extra mile to help you. Food is around 24/7. They have a grill open all night, and bars are like every 10 footsteps. There are like 15 restraunts, varying from very formal to bathingsuit attire. Activities and shows are always going on, but they don't pressure you to go to any of them.

You can't go wrong with any of the rooms, they are all nice and clean. It is, however, better to stay on the Riveria side if you are interested in being near most of the restraunts, activities, and best of all....the ocean! The Manor side has a huge pool that is really neat.  (Its all the same resort, but just the Manor is more mountain view and is like 10 mins from the ocean)

If you do decide to get married there, I would recommend the Gazebo on the Riveria Side. It overlooks the ocean and is very scenic. (You also don't have to get all sandy, but still have the ocean view. And random people watching is very minimal)

The resort as a whole literally looks like a tropical heaven. There isn't an ugly part to it. You can't go wrong!

The only CON- if you do plan to go to Ocho Rios, stay at very very least 6 nights. It takes 2 hours to get to the resort from the air port, so you usually don't get setteled til about 4-5pm. So staying like 3 nights doesn't give you enough time there.

Good luck and I hope you go to Jamaica! It was an INCREDIBLE experience for us.

    And congrats!

  3. Its name, Couples Jamaica, says it all. This 19 acre, adults only/couples only (no singles) resort is dedicated to the romantic celebration of the couples relationship. For this reason, there are lots of honeymoons, weddings and anniversaries celebrated there. It's right on the Caribbean on a wide expanse of broad, white sand.

The resort has 212 rooms and suites in several multi-story buildings with king beds in each room with your choice of mountain, garden or ocean views. Rooms are beautifully decorated with satellite TV, direct dial phones, a CD/cassette player with clock/radio, hairdryers and private bath. The one bedroom suites and villas also contain Jacuzzis with 4 poster beds, a nice, romantic touch. Couples has 4 bars, 5 whirlpools, 2 large swimming pools and five tennis courts, night club with evening entertainment, piano bar and shops.

For weddings, Couples provides several scenic locations for the ceremony, the marriage license, pastor, bridal bouquet, cake, champagne reception, live music, half hour massage and gifts.

  7. I am a travel agent for Liberty Travel and I have stayed at couples twice before.  Couples Ochio Rios is beautiful,  but I am not sure when you are planning this for because they are currently closed for renovations.  They are going to be closed for 6 months to a year.

However Couples Swept away in Negril is just as nice if not nicer.  All the couples do great weddings.

Also I am not crazy about Sandals Bahamas but their are other Sandals that are great, like, Sandals Negril, Sandals Dunn's River Falls & Sandals St lucia Grand. Also very nice weddings.

Another nice place to look is Excellence in punta cana.  This resort is amazing and they too do great weddings. Last I will say that The Royal in Cancun is beautiful too and so are their weddings!!!!

Hope this helped alittle, let me know if you have any other questions.  Good luck and congrats on the wedding!!!!
