I would like to have a place where i can put a tent out with a pretty setting for the wedding/ reception. if you have any links for good/not too expensive places that i could take a look at that'd be great.

are golf courses usually pricey? and if you use a place, do u have to use their catering?

also..if i were to just have the wedding in a local park..does that cost anything usually? if you can, enlighten me a bit on that whole thing

  1. Not sure about PA, and actually I think it varies even from county to county within a given state about the park rental.  First, not all parks are rentable.  Second, if they are, you can be sure there's a nominal fee.

Also, again, not sure about PA, I'm in CA, but it's a toss up about places and using their catering.  I would say it's 50-50.  We loved our venue so much, but we wanted our freedom of choice with a caterer of our choice; but the venue was perfect so we went with them and their caterer.  It actually worked to our benefit, because the caterer was reasonably priced!

    Happy planning!

  2. I live in Luzerne County, PA which is just north of Allentown.  We thought of having an outdoor wedding, too.  In my experience with that 10 years ago we were told that we needed to contact the city for permission.  Although we never did go forward with a ceremony at a local park, I am sure there would be some sort of fee involved.  I would contact your local municipal building or town hall.  They may direct you to a parks department for further assistance but it is best to check there first.  As far as golf courses, I too phoned them when planning my wedding and was given a huge price tag per plate.  Although a co-worker of mine had her wedding in one of those picnic grove areas. It was very lovely and I believe very reasonably priced.  The reception was catered because the grove was owned by a catering company.  Here is one place you can contact that I found on the web.  It sounds ideal because it is flexible.
