When I ordered the paper and envelopes the shop guy told me one of the papers I wanted would take 2 weeks to get in. This was at the start of the month. Envelopes and the other paper arrived in a few days. Called today to ask if was in yet and he said it would be sometime around the end of the month. Which I just don't understand in this day and age. But they have to wait for a shipment to come in. Can't courier it for some reason. Weddings on the 23rd of November 2008. How long before the wedding should you send the invites? Trying to figure out If i can wait or should go to plan ‘B’. Oh and Gordon Harris art supplies in Hamilton suck.

  1. I Think About 8-10 Weeks Before The Wedding Is A Good Time To Send Out Invites. Then About 2-4 Weeks Before Is A Decent Time For The RSVP.

  2. You are the one who can best decide if you should wait or not.  We have no idea how fast you can make invites!!!  That said i think i can help you to decipher the best option here.

Have a look at your paperwork for your venues/caterers and anyone else who wants guest numbers.

It will say somewhere that they require final guest numbers or will be finalising the menu options and special diet meals a particular time ahead of your wedding.  This is usually about two weeks before the wedding but check who needs the most time as it can vary from company to company.

It's less stress if you set your RSVP date two weeks in advance of when you need to have your numbers.  This gives you time to wait for late mail and then some time after that to call anyone who hasn't RSVPd before closing the numbers off.

Your invites would be sent 4-6 weeks ahead of your RSVP date for local guests, 6-8 weeks ahead of the RSVP date for interstate guests and 8-10 weeks ahead of the RSVP date for international guests.

Personally i sent all mine at the same time using the timeline for the furthest away guests so that it was done and i didn't forget!

So once you have worked out when your RSVP date is and then counted on the weeks for mailing to your furthest guests you might find you have time to wait or you may find that you need to go elsewhere.

I'd be saying to the company you are dealing with now that you need to have your invites ready to mail by the start of next month and if they can't locate your paper by the end of the week you are taking your business elsewhere.  They will either say it just came in or you will give your money to someone more reliable.  Win Win.

  3. They should go out the last week of September. You still have time.

  4. Normally 6 to 8 weeks before the event.

  5. you should still have time, about 6 weeks before is ideal.

  6. I agree about 6-8 weeks. I think we sent ours out about 8 weeks before and expected replies back 4 weeks before. We wanted them that early so when people didn't RSVP (which happened of course!) we'd have time to chase them up.
