Wedding pictures packages?

What is the average cost of wedding pictures? Is $1900 to much....

Depends on what you are getting for it.

For $1900, I would expect all of my photos in a CD as well as all proofs in a book.  Can you edit with info on what that $1900 includes?

$1900 is a steal where I live. A lot of it depends on what you get, the quality and quantity of time and pictures, etc. For $1900 where I live you would probably get 1 photographer, proofs on a CD and about 6 hours of time.

In today's world, $1900 isn't a bad price. However, I think you can do much, much better. For that price I would expect all of the negatives, plus everything touched-up and put on a CD.

Try asking your local college and see if there are any photography students that would like a weekend job. Most of the time they'll charge significantly less as long as you let them put the pictures in their portfolio.

Pay what you want.

I've noticed that a lot of people think that since the price is higher, the quality must be higher.

Not so. Does your photographer have a digital camera? If not, will the prints be big enough to resize to your satisfaction?

If you want retouching (Removal of blemishes, slimming, etc) Does the photographer provide sufficient before and after samples on his website?

Price does NOT equal quality. Nor does 20 years of experience (Although, it helps :-)   )

Look for a photographer whose portfolio is well rounded and suits your tastes, and THEN look at the price.

I would reckon to bet that you could get a good photographer for much less though.

NO, depending on how many pictures they included, its quite reasonable.  My brother and I were just married and it was about that much for our pictures.

Basic coverage for about 5 hours and for some prints you are looking at about 1500 and up.  So depending what the 1900 consists of it may be a good deal.
