I'll be staying in San Juan for 5 days w/ my gf, and i plan on proposing to her. Any good proposal ideas? I was thinking something romantic - like dinner at or near the beach. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

  1. Take her camping to Vieques or Culebra, and propose to her in sunrise : )

  2. Rincon beach has the most gorgeous sunsets :) But it is on the west coast, not in San Juan. But if you decide to, then find a secluded beach & go horse-back riding on the beach during the sunset :) If possible; you can even have a table setup w/ champagne, dinner & roses for after the ride.

Old San Juan has alot of romantic spots too, like the Paseo La Princesa which is a romantic walkway which also has gorgeous sunsets. Its nice at night. Maybe take her to a nice restaraunt in Old San Juan & walk the streets & end up at the beach. But in San Juan the beach will usually have people. Also old San Juan sometimes has carriage rides.

You can do a glow in the dark kayak ride in Fajardo about an hour from San Juan. Go to Las Croabas bioluminescent lagoon. Luquillo beach nearby is also nice.

The answerer above me had some good suggestions, but dont plan to propose at Rio Camuy Caves, El Yunque or Arecibo Telescope. They are nice to see, but the are tourist destinations, not romantic.

  3. A few suggestions I made on a previous question:

-- If price is no object (I mean, really) and you have the time (Rincon is about 3 hours from San Juan), Horned Dorset Primavera (http://www.horneddorset.com/home.html) is regarded as one of the most romatic hotels in the world! They'll be able to help you set up something nice.

-- With a little time, reserve a private dinner for two under a canopy on the beach at Villa Montaña in Isabela (about 2 hours from San Juan http://www.villamontana.com/index.html). I went there to celebrate my wedding anniversary last year and there was a couple with a table on the sand with torches and flowers... Very romantic! You can even stay the night, but the hotel is expensive...

-- If you don't have much time or money, reserve a table at the beach at Pamelas in Ocean Park (http://www.numero1guesthouse.com/pamelas... Plan it around for 6:30 so you get to be there for sunset. Request a table at the beach (they set them up in the sand).

-- Within Old San Juan, there are the big fortresses (San Cristóbal and El Morro) that lend themselves to concepts of strenght, timelessness, etc...  Another user called Scorpionitty suggested "to pop the question at El Morro at night. The fortress looks beautiful with all th elights next to the bay. You can lay a blanket on the grass open a bottle of wine or champagne have some cheese and strawberries. It would be ideal. There is lots of vigilance in the area, I would do it on a Saturday or Friday evening."...  If you decide to go for a picnic at El Morro, you can probably have your hotel prepare something nice. There's this place in Guaynabo (15 mins from San Juan) called Bottles (5 G Tabonuco St., San Patricio, Guaynabo (787) 775-1210) They can prepare something great and they have a huge selection of wines. Ask for Richard. Thay might even deliver...

In any case, prepare for hot and humid weather (rain is always a possibility,so check the weather report) and have a plan B... Have a great time!

  4. don't let her see you- write will you marry me in the sand on a nice beach and be like oh look over here what's that

  5. I don't know where you will be staying in Puerto Rico but here are the most romatic spots in Puerto Rico

    • Strolling hand-in-hand along the cobblestone street of Paseo de la Princesa, the Old City’s main boulevard, is a great way to start exploring all of the historic sites.

    • Spend a lazy day laying on a blanket along the sun-drenched, uninhabited Flamenco Beach on Culebra.

    • Wish on a star at the Arecibo Observatory, home of the world’s largest radar/radio telescope. Chances are it will come true on this island of paradise.

    • Sail under a moonless sky to one of the two luminescent bays famous for their glow-in-the-dark creatures. It is as unique as the love you share.

    • Slip into something seductive and head to Jazz at The Place, in old San Juan, for great music and Latin-style dancing.

    • Tour the beauty of the El Yunque, the 28,000-acre Caribbean National Forest, and surround yourselves with tropical flora and fauna.

    • Savor the tastes of fine dining over candlelight in one of San Juan’s many international restaurants.

    • Venture through the El Toro trails to the summit of Pico El Toro, reaching nearly 3,500 feet above sea level. It allows for a breathtaking view of the island and the azure waters below.

    • Discover the Rio Camuy Cave Park, a series of crater-like sinkholes, caves and one of the world’s largest underground rivers and lose yourselves in Cueva Clara, a 170-foot cave with amazing stalagmites and stalactites.

    • Witness the exotic underwater creatures of the Caribbean only a few miles off the southern shore.

    • If solitude and privacy is what you crave, visit Gilligan’s Island. It is a small island that visitors can reach by boat ride. Just one mile off the coast of Copamarina Beach Resort, in Guanica, one can explore uncharted island territory.

    • Nothing is more intriguing or romantic than the glow of Phosphorescent Bay in Vieques. The waters have an actual glow as millions of fireflies surround the waters.

    Congratulations and good luck)

  6. NO Don't Do It. If You really have to do it. Try this place Pamela's restaurant in Numero UNo guesthouse. Make a reservation so  you can get the best table outside. Have a great candlelight dinner at the beach, expensive champagne and then take her for a shoe-less walk at the beach. When no one's around...only you and her/him, the ocean and the moon... get on your knees(hopeless romantic) and   Ask her gently...
