Question:

Wedding quote suggestions please?

I would prefer something by an ancient author or by a dark romantic. It shouldn't be "pink", rather something serious, solemn. If it's from a song, it's even better. I browsed many sites but couldn't find a good one.

Thanks!

  1. i found these quotes from website good.

God, the best maker of all marriages, Combine your hearts into one.

    William Shakespeare

Marriage is the perfection of what love aimed at, ignorant of what it sought.

    Ralph Waldo Emerson

Marriage is an act of will that signifies and involves a mutual gift, which unites the spouses and binds them to their eventual souls, with whom they make up a sole family - a domestic church.

    Pope John Paul II

  2. Second stanza of The Bells, by E.A.Poe?  Actually, much of what he wrote might work.

    Excerpt from The Bells:

    Hear the mellow wedding bells,

    Golden bells!

What a world of happiness their harmony foretells!

Through the balmy air of night

How they ring out their delight!

    From the molten-golden notes,

    And an in tune,

    What a liquid ditty floats

To the turtle-dove that listens, while she gloats

    On the moon!

Oh, from out the sounding cells,

What a gush of euphony voluminously wells!

    How it swells!

    How it dwells

On the Future! how it tells

    Of the rapture that impels

To the swinging and the ringing

    Of the bells, bells, bells,

    Of the bells, bells, bells,bells,

    Bells, bells, bells

To the rhyming and the chiming of the bells!

  3. But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you.

And these memories lose their meaning

When I think of love as something new.

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life, I love you more.

    - - -Beatles "In My Life"

  4. Hmm.. Hope this helps!

"In May, when sea-winds pierced our solitudes,

I found a beautiful Rhodora in the woods,

Made the crystal water with its beauty

Here might the redbird come his plumes to cool,

And court the flower that cheapens his array.

Rhodora! If the people ask thee why

Tell them, dear, that if eyes are made for seeing

    Then Beauty is its own being;

I never thought to ask, I never knew:

But, in my simple ignorance, suppose

The self-same power that brought me there, brought me you."

"Heaven is not gained at a single bound.

We build the ladder on which we rise

From the lowly earth to the vaulted skies,

And we mount to its summit round by round

I find these things to be grandly true,

Lifting our souls from the common sod

To a purer air and a broader view."

Well, these are actually poems that I've read.

I hope you understand what they truly mean.

But I may have edited it a bit.

You can edit it yourself if you want.

    hehe.

    Quotes~

"I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for their religion -

    I have shudder'd at it.

    I shudder no more.

I could be martyr'd for my religion

    Love is my religion

And I could die for that.

    I could die for you."

"You will never know true happiness

    until you have truly loved,

    and you will never understand

    what pain really is

    until you have lost it.

    Yeah, I know it's long.

    Hope you don't mind
