Wedding reception decor!! Help please?

Question

I need pictures of receptions. I am having a cocktail reception and I want as the evening fades the colored lights to start standing out. I wan sort of a lounge theme. I also would like to have a jazz band play during some of the wedding. Any pics/ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks : )

I used to be in charge of organizing coffee houses in a small town and mostly the only venue we used was the community hall- which definitely doesn't ooze jazz/cozy/intimate for such events, or weddings or that kind of thing, so we had to get creative to turn the tall ceilings and 'hall' feel into something that suited the music. I'm not sure what venue you are using, but definitely tea lights or smaller hurricane lights with candles in them with the main lights dimmed a bit or some lights turned off will create your cozy atmosphere0 and well with jazz in the background, its' a must to create that sort of darkish smoky lounge atmosphere (lol, without the smoke of course) (have spent most of my life in jazz clubs/lounges of various kinds).

When you're hanging your coloured lights, keep it simple so when you dim the main lights, it doesn't look like a Christmas party, lol. Candles that are covered (talk to the venue about fire safety and regulations, and you may have to use fake candles and may want to in places that knocking over might be a possibility).

I would try looking at Event Lighting websites. There are certain ways to place the lights to make everything look beautiful. I think lighting is key to the type of decor that you are wanting. Here are a few pictures that might give you some ideas:
