hes in the military so i havent seen him which is why the rings are so last minute. they werent really the first things on our mind.

my question is can we pick out bands and have them ready that day? ive heard that you cant. but im not sure i beleive it.

my friend says they dont carry rings in sizes they have to size them when you pick them out. but ive never heard that before.

  1. usually they have the rings in one size, and you have to get it sized to your finger.  Try calling a jeweler that you are interested in and see what they have to say, this way you are aware of what may happen before you get there on saturday.

  2. Unless they *happen* to have the right ring of the right size, you will have to wait to have them resized - or you can buy the rings, exchange them at the ceremony (even if they are the wrong size), and then bring them back to have them resized. Sure, you can also order the rings online, but they might not fit perfectly and you may still end up having to resize them. If your fiancé can, it would be helpful for him to go to a jewelry store and have them help determine his ring size.

  3. If you have to get them sized no you can't pick them up on the same day!!  Only if they have the exact size there!!

  4. When we shopped for our rings, we found that most places only carry one size. His was the "right" size and my set had to be sent to be re-sized. Since you are buying the rings the day before the wedding, you might try pawn shops who would carry different sizes. Of course your rings may not be new. But they would work temporarily, until you can pick something out and have the time for it to be sized properly.

Of course you could be lucky, and wear the "right" size that most jewelry places have in stock. Most of the places we looked had a size 7 for women and a size 10 for men.  We were looking for a trio set with our wedding bands and the engagement ring all matching. It may be different if you are just looking for bands.

Good Luck and congratulations on your wedding.

  5. Go to a jeweler of your choice and if they do not have the ring in the size you want, but a ring maybe a 1/2 size bigger or a size bigger and they will put something that's called a ring prong or sizer. Go get married on that day with the sizer or prong in place with that ring and then take it back to the jeweler to have it re-sized correctly. It may take a few days up to a week, but at least you'll have a ring to have on the wedding day.

You might be lucky if the technician is on duty to do it on the same day, they might charge you for the rush fee, they might not. But resizing the ring isn't an instant thing. They take time.

  6. Unless you are super lucky, the jeweler generally doesn't have several sizes in stock.  They most likely will have to order them.

  7. When we were looking for rings we had to get them size but then again we never asked if we could get them that day but I think its going to take a lot of effort on your part to find a jeweller that carries the rings that you want in the correct size.  If you can't find then can I suggest just using "dummy" rings for the day.  Good Luck and dont stress to much about it.

  8. Most often the rings have to be ordered, unless you’re buying the display and having it resized – which is also not generally done in a day.  You should probably do what you can to get the rings ordered asap.

  9. That is not true. You may have to look around. I know in the mall here we have a jewelry store called fast fix, and they can size a ring in about an hour.

  10. most of the time you can get a ring sized up a small amount in store...but to size it down it takes a few days and to size it up allot it takes a few days too! You can always purchase the rings and use them in the wedding ceremony and then after the ceremony take them and have them sized!!

  11. Its true but it all depends on where you go. You can ask around before you start shoping.

*Make sure they will have the rings ready!

    and congratulations!!!!

  12. i think your friend is right. when my hubby and i went to pick out our rings, they measured our fingers to find out what size we wore and then had to order the rings, and it took a couple days before they came in.  that was at a fine jewelry store though and some stores might be different though. for example, i believe walmart had rings in all different sizes.

  13. Some places will carry bands in different sizes, but in my experience they usually have one or two bands.  Rings aren't generally stored at stores because:

    a) they are a theft risk

    b) it is not cost effective to have many rings in many sizes...it is cheaper to have a customer measured.

You may get lucky and get one in your size, but more than likely you'll have to deal with a ring that is too small/big and get it resized after your wedding day.
