Wedding ring situation?

my fiance and i got engaged last august (07) and we found out at the end of the mo' that i was pregnant....after long and hard consideration we decided to take the ring back. it was a hard decisions but i knew it was the right thing to do...the ring was not fully paid for so it made sense to wait a little while when he could afford another ring that was less expensive....

i don't care how much the ring costs to be honest & i have actually said that for the time being all i really want it a simple white gold wedding band with a matching band that has a couple diamonds in it(i like this one from kay jewelers and its like $300, yes, three hundred) anyway, i've decided to go another route and i was wondering if anyone knew of a website that sells jewelry that LOOKS real but isn't....and that doesn't cost a fortune...i know there are cubic zirconium rings out there but i don't know where else to look....we're getting married in a couple of mo's and since i don't care about the actual engagement ring for now i need a ring that will pass as a real one for the time being....please no rude comments.....i'm just trying to make things easier on us financially and yes my fiance already has a ring picked out that he's saving for....everyone knows how expensive babies are and we're also trying to save for one of us to get a newer car....this is just life and we're going thru it together and very happily...any help would be much appreciated!

  1. It sounds to me like you are trying to make the right decision for you both financially.  I applaud that!

Considering what you said here, do you really even need/want an engagement ring?  You could just go for the wedding band you mention here (and who cares if it's $300 if it's what you want and in your budget?).  At some later point, maybe an anniversary, you could get another ring.

    Good luck.

  2. well if authentic isn't important to you its a great way to save.  you may want to still go with real gold only for a longer better looks

And you can look for bridal swets so you have both an engagement and wedding band

  3. Congratulations on the baby! And good for you for making a decision that's best for your child and not about what you want. In that spirit I have one word for you: MOISSANITE!

Moissanite is a man-made material that looks almost exactly like a diamond, is almost as hard as a diamond, and cost about half as much as a diamond.

Like you, my fiance and I decided against an expensive ring so we could spend more on the wedding and honeymoon, however I still wanted a nice stone. After some research we decided on moissanite. I was still skeptical until we went to a jewelery store and compared and moissanite stone to a diamond side-by-side. You could tell the difference alright, the moissanite looked better! It was clearer, had more fire, and wasn't yellow at all. I've had mine for nearly a year and so far no one, not even a professional jewler, could tell the difference. I get compliments on it all the time. Here's some info on them, but I really recommend going to a jewelery store (we got mine from Zales) and comparing the two.

  4. You can still get diamonds and gold on the less expensive side -

  5. Have you tried WalMart.com I know Wal-Mart SCREAMS cheap but they do have some gorgeous rings.  Don't judge before you look for yourself. You can even do site to store and pay no shipping or if you don't want to pick it up from the store (If you live in a small town like I did) you can have it delivered.

  6. There is no need to rush marriage. Why do you NEED to get married now? Why don't you wait a few years once your better off financially and then get married, your child will be a little older and able to participate in the wedding and you won't be so broke. A wedding is a once in a lifetime thing, do you really want to rush it and have fake stuff? Take your time and when your ready, you'll have a beautiful wedding.

  7. Don't go with a CZ...Go with a synthetic diamond (also called lab-created).  It is a real diamond, but just created in a lab.  Look on Ebay!  It will look real b/c it is real and you can get a great one for under $300.

  8. I bought my husbands wedding band from http://www.e-weddingbands.com/index.html  I bought him a titanium ring before they were in all the stores.. many stores have commented on his ring and have told us that  ring would probably have costs us around $800 at their store and I only paid $125

  9. I got my engagement ring from gordon jewelers for $100. It has small diamonds in it.

My wedding ring cost $80 from kay Jewelers.

  10. Consider a white sapphire or white topaz...they are moderate priced compared to diamonds and very sparkly........sterling silver settings, or 10k gold will reduce the price, in fact if you're willing, a 10k yellow gold setting will make any clear gemstone, such as white topaz or sapphire 'pop'......besides, diamonds are highly over rated.......

HSN & QVC are good options.....Novica has some beautiful stuff.......check out what HSN & QVC have on clearance...you'll get good buys....good luck.

  11. Try QVC. They have some really lovely diamonique rings. Best wishes.

  12. QVC is a good suggestion. This catalog called "Stauer" makes nice "diamondaura" jewelry. you may try that too. just do an internet search for it. my boss gets their catalog in the mail and they have some nice looking things for between, roughly, $100-500.

    good luck & congrats!

  13. This is totally up to you. Personally, I would go with something simple and real, no CZ. I have a wedding ring that cost $80 at macy*s. It's a simple white gold band with a ridges border, very simple and elegant. I also didn't have a lot of money. Anybody who passes judgment about that would be telling you that you should be worrying more about people's perception of your marriage rather than the well-being of your family. I have never regretted my choice to have a simple ring. Put the extra money in your child's college account.
