  1. go with quality over size. u want a ring that glitters not a bulky one that doesnt look nice.

  2. It depends on the size of your finger, but yes, if it's too big for your finger it's going to look cheesy and fake.  and you are more likely to damage it because you will bang it a lot if it's really big or the setting is a higher mounting.

My finger is a size 4 and when my fiance designed my engagement ring he had a .7 carat diamond in mind.  But when he told the goldsmith my finger size, he suggested getting a .6 carat diamond instead, because that's all my little finger needs.  I was happy with that, because the money he saved on the getting the smaller stone he spent a little bit of it one getting a much higher QUALITY stone, which is more important to me, because better quality means more sparkle.  That ensures it doesn't look fake for sure. Plus it has two side-stones adding to the overall look of the ring.

My older sisters ring is a 1.2 carat diamond in her engagement ring and it looks ridiculous on me, it's like costume jewelry.  But on her finger, it still looks big, but proportional to her size 7 finger.

  3. Why do you want a big rock, but worry that it will look fake? It's not just the size of the stone but the design of the ring that makes it beautiful. I've seen huge rocks that, despite being able to tell that they're real, they just look SO gauche!

My ring is just a .50 cttw, with the largest stone(.25 ct) filled with visible inclusions, but once set with it's surrounding stones it was so beautiful, and my cognac diamond dazzled this woman at work. Hers was a more modern version of mine. Her FH spent thousands. Mine cost $300!

It's the style that counts. Worry about size later.

  4. quality over size!

    Tiffany makes some beautiful  Rings!

  5. not necessarily, it really depends on the ring.

your question isn't much of a question though.

show us the specific rings you're considering.  And if you like big and extravagant check out Tacori.

  6. I agree with everyone else! You defiantly want quality over quantity because you want it to shine when the light hits it and sometimes too big is just too much and people might assume it's fake, like you said. Plus you want something that is timeless and you can pass down once your daughter or grand daughter gets married :) i want my ring to be in the family for a long time because it's so gorgeous!! I love the solitaire Diamonds ..check out the Tiffany's store online, the brilliant cut is mine! it's beautiful!!

Also, if you do a single solitaire diamond you can get fancy with the wedding band. Mine is a 3 row pave' setting wedding band and it looks phenomenal next to my diamond ring

  7. Big may show status, but also think about practicality. do you want something big and uncomfortable on your finger everyday?
