Question:

Weddingmoon - Sandals Jamaica?

We are planning a weddingmoon and are torn between Montego Bay and Royal Caribbean. In Montego Bay we could get a butler service room with our budget, but not at Royal Caribbean. The issue is that I'm worried about is the party level at Montego Bay. We heard that it is much more active and a much younger crowd. Have any of you been to either resort? Do you prefer one over the other?

We are fine with the airport noise and the fact that it is a bit older. And we want some activites throughout the week, just not a 'spring break' feeling! Does Montego Bay still have that romantic feeling despite the more lively surroundings?

Thanks!

  1. We've never been to the resorts that you've mentioned, but, my daughter was married at Sandals in Negril.  Everything was beautiful and very romantic.  The wedding was in a gazebo right on the beach.  The resort itself is lovely, the food, drink, activities all great and all-inclusive.

If you haven't already seen tripadvisor.com you really should.  You will find comments from other visitors on all these resorts (some of them wedding mooners).  It should help you to make your decision.  Congratulations to both of you.

  2. I have traveled extensively in Jamaica - my wife & I have gone each of the last 8 years in May for our Anniversary & will be there again in 2 weeks - I would strongly suggest an all inclusive resort in Negril , although not necessarily Sandals . We have seen weddings performed at every resort we stayed at in Jamaica , & for me , the Grand Lido Braco was the nicest setting . It's a rather private resort on the northern end of Negril , away from the town center and the property is beautiful ! The sunsets on Negril beaches are spectacular , so plan on taking your vows during that time of the day .  I would love to help you make your big day a memorable event , so please email me with all the details of your Wedding plans & let me get you the best deal possible ! Email me at gerry@snapshottravelagency.com , I will take care of everything ! .... Regards , Gerry Donnelly

  3. My suggestion is to get a villa that will accommodate your entire party and comes with an all inclusive. You will be picked up at the airport and some even have a driver to chauffeur you around. Intimate and very exclusice

  4. I am actually from Montego Bay. Sadly, Montego-Bay has failed to preserve that romantic feeling. It is all about parties and loud music now. It's hard to avoid, but Royal Caribbean is  better because there won't be too many boisterous springbreakers as to be too much of a bother. To avoid spring breakers, it would be best to try another city, like ocho rios, but DEFINITELY NOT NEGRIL!! that's worse than Montego-Bay
