  1. Wow.

I know that weddings got bigger and more extravagant - people had to scrimp and ration during the war so when it was over people went nuts with things like silk, sugar, coffee, and butter. Women were VERY happy to finally be re-united with men that had been overseas for 5 years.... the anxiety and the waiting were finally over. Everyone celebrated like crazy.

Catholic weddings are VERY traditional.  The mass at the time would have been said in Latin, with the preist facing the alter - his back to the people in the church.  Whatever the ceremony is now, find it in latin and that's probably pretty close (This is pre-vatican 2 if you're looking up specific thelogy.  Vatican 2 reformed the church, put masses in the vernacular, and made the priest face the people).  I would think at least a maid of honor and 2 bridesmaids..... I know there are decent vintage wedding rescources out there....just not sure where..... :s

    Good luck!

there is a link to a replica of Jackie and John F. Kennedy's wedding cake... I would say look up their wedding for style tips.  If you google their names plus wedding you should get pics.
