Weed Whacker Line Feed...?

Is there a right way/wrong way to wrap feed line around the spool of a weed whacker? And are the notches on the spool ends for something? two square notches on the edges of one side, opposite edges and two slanted notches on the the edges of the other side of spool, opposite edges. thanks.

  1. There is two different  types of spools,a single spool and a divided spool. Using the center of the line you are putting on, (refill length usually around 20') start wrapping onto spool in the direction of the arrow on the spool. Most all spools have this so you know which direction to wrap. The slanted notches are to hold the line while you put the spool in the housing,the square notches are the locking tabs that hold it in the housing


  2. there should be a little hole inside, stick the string in it, then wind about 3/4 full but not too tight, Then stick the string in one of them slots to hold it, cut the string, then put it through the hole in the bottom of weed eater and snap the head back on. done

  3. you wrap it clockwise
