Weed and seed?

Question

Just purchased a home on a half acre lot, north side of mid-atlantic area.

Yard seems to be comprised primarily of weeds with areas of grass mixed in. What is the best route for dealing with this? Is there a good weed and seed product or would I need to treat everything then plant new grass seed afterwards?

My opinion and experience, these things are better when done seperatley. Weed and Feed is supposed to be used over your whole lawn, then put down good grass seed in the fall with some straw.

When the lawn is more than half weeds its needs to be replaced.  Spray round up, till the soil and plant a high quality grass seed, I recommend Scotts premium grass seed.  You will have far less weeds and the weeds you do get can be easily managed.  You will never be able to fix the current mess that you have.
