  1. if its gas, go to your local hardwear store and pick up a replacement head! there only about 20 bucks! and work great! instead of the string feeder system, they use 2 or 3 sticks that are easy to change and last longer then the string style! hope it helps

  2. make sure you are putting it on right.

    Is it gas powered?

Dont use thin thin string it will slip out?

  3. Do you have to bump it on the ground to get the string to feed? That's how mine works. It has a k**b on the bottom (a black rubbery thing) and you bump that against the ground to get it to release more string. Part of the trick is to bump it before the string gets too short. Mine is a Ryobi.

  4. There are only two things I can think of. Either you're trimming against something like concrete and it's breaking off very quickly, or it was installed backwards in the head.

  5. Sounds as if the string is wound backwards. If this is new trimmer should have arrows for direction to wind string. Also should have instructions on head for size of string to use .065, .080. etc And as mentioned above you have to rev engine up and firmly tap the head on ground to get string to advance.
