Weed naming?

Does anyone know when and what the first noxious weed was in the US. Here in the Dakotas it's Leafy Spurge. RScott.

Ragweed? Or ragwort I think it is called here in Blighty I don't know I give up already!

The first weeds came over with the first settlers in the 17th century.

There's an interesting book I can recommend that talks about the natural history of the US, and how the environment and habitats for many of the native plants and animals were changed because of exotics that were brought into this country
