Weed or alcohol- Which is worse?

Personally I think smoking weed is better- BECAUSE-

1. People who are high, dont go out and hurt other people

2. They are just doing c**p to them selves (if they want to damagae themselves, its fine, aslong as its not hurting others)

3. It wears off quicker

Alcohol -

1. People get drunk, start causing fights, and hurt other people

2. They be sick

3. They have hangovers, so are horrible the next day too

I know I will get people not agreeing, but thats my personal opinion.

I have smoked weed a few times, yes, I would much prefer to do that then drink to be honest. BUT I do not intend on smoking again - havent done it for years - just so you know.

  1. I agree.  The point I always make is this:  We all know people who have ruined their entire lives with alcohol.  But as many as 1/3 of Americans have used pot 'habitually' at one time or another in their lives (meaning more than just experimenting at a party or something). And who knows anyone who has ruined his life with pot?  Nobody!

If we were smart we would legalize pot and control it the same way we do alcohol.  The stuff grows like a weed, so we could tax it like 1000% and it would still be cheap!

  2. I suppose thats very true.

but a little alcahol is quite good so it depends where your coming from.

  3. Weed is MUCH better than alcohol, even though it's illegal and smoking it can damage your lungs. Making hash brownies is good! Smoking pot diminishes your chances for Alzheimer's by about 60% and is great for lifting moods up and isn't addictive, only habit forming, while alcohol is physically addictive. Also, it helps treat pancreatic, prostate, breast and brain cancer!!!!! Pot is a completely natural plant that was probably MADE for us to smoke, since we have cannabinoid receptors in our brains!!! I love both, but weed is definitely better.

  4. Heya

Yeah i agree , weed is alot better than alocohol. alcohol makes you do things you wouldnt if you wernt under the influence. where as weed just makes you calm , and at worst , a little bit paranoid. when me and my boyfriend has been out in the past , im a heavy drinker and hes a heavy smoker (weed) and hes always the one at the end of the night haing to carry me home and he made me give  up the drinking . now im pregnant and wouldnt ever drink as much as i used to as i reflect on how better my life has been without. =] x*x

  5. Alcohol is better if you drink occasionally on special occasions such as New Year and Christmas. At least it's legal too. x

  6. Both can impact big time on families but I quite agree that alcohol is far worse.  My other half gave up drinking 2.5 yrs ago and the change in him is amazing.  Alcohol was in danger of destroying our relationship but since he gave up the booze we've settled down to a great life and even got married :) . He does smoke weed very occasionally but not to the extent that there is any impact on us.

  7. I think that http alcohol is worse than pot. Countless innocent lives are taken each year by drunk drivers. And violence is also often attributed to alcohol. Pot is used for medical reason so it cant be that bad.

  8. Weed is better. Plain and simple! You would rather eat and chill than go out and beat people up, drive drunk, and throw up!!!!

  9. Alcohol is generally worse.  I think George Carlin had some routine about how nobody ever hurt or killed anyone while high.

"They be sick"?  I hope that was just a typo.

  10. alcohol is infinitely more damaging than pot

edit: i can see that a few folks thumbed me down without possessing sufficient emeralds to actually post a contradictory answer- by the way, thinking along the lines of "pot's illegal, so it must be worse" should result in one sitting silently at the kiddie table and leaving important things to the grown ups

this is phrased as a health question, not a legal question

edit: @ blinkda "pot is worse than alcohol , because it has more likely hood to get attached to it .. if u haven't done it in 2 years why are u asking anyway..

the factor of alcohol making u sick is the repellant. i would much rather a beer than a joint im not doing anything wrong or illegal amnt i!"

you are uninformed and obviously prefer to parrot nonsense than do any research. where do you get your "info"?  you're a fool. go sit at the kiddie table w/ collette.  i dont know if you get this c**p from your parents, priests, or what, but GET EDUCATED.

  11. I support the legalisation of cannibis..but I have never smoked (including tobacco) so I think that both are harmful

  12. Both

  13. ALCOHOL IS WORSE!

I used to drink all the time. every week, multiple times a week. i got really drunk every time. i started getting really sick from it so i started smoking weed way more and now i cant even drink. when you're high you just sit there and have a good time with other high people. but alcohol makes people wanna have s*x, throw up, have a hangover, fight and be really annoying.

weed is 100% better than alcohol and since i have drank a lot and smoked a lot and i can TRULY say alcohol is worse than marijuana.

Alcohol is poison, marijuana is just a plant.

*Collette L* - Driving while you're high is NOT as bad as driving drunk at all. When you are drunk driving, you don't know what is going on and you get blurry and the line on the road are messed up and you swerve and you can't keep control. I don't know how many time you have driven while under the influence of marijuana, but I do it everyday and I have never once out of a whole 2 years hit another car, or been into ANY kind of accident while driving high. You COMPLETELY kno what is going on. I do know of some people who have been in accidents when they are high, but saying it is JUST AS BAD AS DRIVING DRUNK, that is not true. At all.

  14. Weed is better, but it doesn't wear off quicker.

Alcohol goes through your system & you pee it out.

The THC in weed stays in your blood for months and can be traced easily in drug tests.

And if you meant that you aren't "high" for as long, then what's the point in doing either to begin with?

All that covered I agree with you...and most of the population would.

Weed is the better choice, way less addictive & non-fatal.

  15. 1 People who smoke weed are just as likely to get behind the wheel and drive as someone drinking alcohol. They are just as impaired. So, they do hurt other people.

#2 What about the effects of it on a job - would you want someone smoking weed that is running a crane? Flying your airplane? Driving your childs school bus?

#3 Nope, it actually stays in your system much longer. it also does as much damage to your brain function. Over time it really messes with your memory capabilities.

Legalizing it means more people being impaired on the roads and doing their jobs. Be careful what you wish for - you might get more than you wanted.

  16. I heard that in rehab, alcoholics do worse than drug addicts. Says alot doesnt it?

  17. I believe both are worst when a person abuses them.

Alcohol does more damage then weed.

  18. No contest, alcohol is worse. You haven't even accurately described the pros and cons.

A person who drinks strong liquor, like vodka, everclear etc can die just from drinking too much of it at once. Its called alcohol poisoning. So get that, alcohol in a large enough dose, is a poison. By contrast I've never heard of anyone dieing from smoking weed. Many people say this has never happened. Never.

    That's an amazing difference.

Alcohol can also kill you slowly. A friend of mine just told me that his father died from internal bleeding after abusing alcohol for most of his life. There is no effect even remotely like this for weed.

The worst thing people usually say about weed to make it seem as if it was bad is that it causes short-term memory loss. That isn't even true. Medical studies have found absolutely no persistent effects on memory.

There are only two real dangers associated with weed. One is that it probably has a higher tar content than cigarettes, so its no good for your lungs. The other, and by far the worst danger associated with it though, is that it is illegal.

Now, since a lot of people like to believe that the only people who defend weed are stoners, I want to make it clear that I have never tried smoking it even once in my life. But I do like my beer.

  19. I would unhesitatingly say that cannabis is worse for you.

Small quantities of alcohol are beneficial, actually prolonging healthy life.

Like radiation and smoking, cannabis has no safe dose and no redeeming health effects. It increases the risk of psychotic mental disease by 40%, is 6 times more likely to result in lung cancer than conventional smoking, all chronic users increase their levels of brain atrophy, ( shrinkage,) which causes and accelerates dementia. There is also increasing evidence that is causes impotence in young men.

  20. Both are equally dangerous.  Weed can lead you on to want to take stronger drugs, leading you into the "drop out" syndrome and eventually to addiction.  Alcohol can do the same, apart from the bad behaviour when a person is drunk you can become an alcoholic.  Yes, these are worse case scenarios  but it is easy to get into the habit of drinking so much a day, or smoking so much weed a week , so that you need more and more to get the same sensations and before you know it you are addicted.  Drink in moderation following the government guide lines and do not smoke weed at all as it leads to much worse.

  21. Alcohol is far worse.  It affects the brain, the trachea, the larynx, the stomach, the intestines, the kidneys, the liver, the nervous system and more.  For those who have drank for years and become daily drinkers, alcohol withdrawal can kill the person if they try cold turkey.  Weed and other drugs withdrawal the person may feel like they are dying, but it won't kill them.  As far as health goes, alcohol is by far the worst.

As far as behavior, they are all about the same.  One's behavior is unpredictable no matter what they take.

  22. pot is worse than alcohol , because it has more likely hood to get attached to it .. if u haven't done it in 2 years why are u asking anyway..

the factor of alcohol making u sick is the repellant. i would much rather a beer than a joint im not doing anything wrong or illegal amnt i!

  23. i heard that weed is much safer. i haven't done either tho.
