  1. Yay!, but I really don't care, I'm still gonna roll it, light it, & smoke it.

  2. I don't smoke it  any  more  the  new  stuff is  too  strong.  gives  me  headaches.  i get  too many  of those  without  looking  for  more.

but i still  say  it  should be legalized  for two important  reasons.

the  first is  fairly straightforward : quality  control

    the  second  is  more involved

right  now  you  have  marajuana in the  same  class  of  drugs  as  all the  other major  narcotics and  barbituates.

meanwhile cigarettes and  alcohol are  in a category  together as safe and  legal.

    jeckyll  and  hyde  more  like

the lines  we  have  drawn in the  sand are  all in the  wrong  places, and  give  the wrong  impressions  to  kids  as  to  what  we  really  think is dangerous  and  what  we  say  is  ok.

by classifying weed with  hard  drugs you are misleading  them. once  a kid  tries  a weed ,a so-called "dangerous"  drug  and  comes  out  the  other side  he  will  be emboldened to  try  the  others.

"I dont see what the  big deal is"

the  government  in this  way  have themselves made  it  a more  of  a gateway  drug than it  would  be  if  it  were  classed  as  beer and  liquor. .

the  killer drugs Coke,  heroine etc,  should  be  classed  separately from  everything  else and  the  penalties should  be prohibitive. like mandatory minimum of 5 years in  prison  for  first  offence possesion 10 years for  sale.

cigarrettes  should also go  away with  a grandfather  clause.

phased  out over next  fifty  years  with  the  minimum age  increasing by five  years  every  five years so  that only  those  addicted  already can get them at  all and  only  by  prescription

btw its  more  complicated  and  time consuming  to  grow good  pot  than  just  to plant it  like  a fern. theres  the  issue  of budding  which  requires the timing  of  light cycles which  entails  blacking out  windows.  (a dead  giveaway) not  to  mention  humidity which if  done  properly wrecks drywall.

you can distill your  own  booze too  but there  are  laws and they  are  easily  enforceable. the  government is  just  afraid  of  pissing  off the  US any  more  than  they  have alreadfy  with  g*y  marriage.

  3. yay! unfortunatly the weed movement is almost non-existant these days

  4. Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded.

    - Abraham Lincoln: Speech in the Illinois House of Representatives, Dec 18, 1840.

Know your history, knowledge is power, and never get it twisted. The very corporations we fund have been the source of some of the greatest ills of our history, and continue to run rampant to this day.

    Here's one for your bookshelf:

Self-sufficiency is the greatest fear of institutions that thrive on controlling the greater good--putting every man, woman, and child against each other in order to turn a profit, and entertain themselves in the process.

Never, ever let your haze, cloud your vision. If that happens, then we've just given more of our liberties away.

  5. I don't really care but I can think of benefits and disadvantages to legalizing it.   First, if you legalize it, it can be grown locally more and that means the money stays in our slumping economy.   It also means that it won't be run by underground illegal operations, therefore there will be more legal operations growing and selling it.  That means there will be more competition and therefore cheaper prices.   It will also take money away from terrorists who are selling it to make money for violent agendas (an unfortunate reality).   It will also lessen the burden on our prison system and there will be a decrease in violence.

On the downside, it will be more widely accepted and therefore more people's judgement will be impaired and brain cells killed because of smoking it.  That means more incidences of intoxication related car accidents, on the job accidents, etc.   It means more problems with work and school performance. The government will tax it so you will be fattening the pockets of THE MAN.   etc. etc.

  6. Yay & I agree with all the yays above. I've heard that the prescription drug, tobacco and alcohol companies work very hard to keep weed illegal because of the competition. I have no idea if that's true but I can understand why it could be true. I always assumed it was because there was no way for the government to tax it because they have made too much hype about it to turn around and say, well it's not sooo bad.

I'm not well informed on the issue, but this is how I see it. Who is being harmed if I want to smoke a joint in the privacy of my own home? Me. So if the laws in place are meant to protect me, then why is it that I can bring a case of beer home? A carton of cigarettes? A bucket of fried chicken? A bottle of soda? Those things are bad for me, too...so why aren't they illegal?

Why fine me or toss me in jail if I want to buy a bag of weed to have at home for when I want it? Why toss the person in jail that I bought it from? They certainly didn't push it on me. I certainly won't push it on anyone else. How much are taxpayers paying to house people like me in jail because I prefer a few puffs to catch a buzz over drinking?

I'll bet 50% of folks I know would be pretty surprised to find out I've smoked pot, shocked to find out I'm a 'pothead'. Amazingly enough I still manage to hold down a full time job, pay my bills, set money aside, have friends, exercise & eat well. My house is even tidy because a little puff gets me motivated and focussed and I clean. How's that for destructive behavior? OMG, did you hear she smokes pot & cleans??

IDK, imperfect world where we will never agree on much of anything. I wish I had the answers.

  7. Personally, I think it should be legalized. It's a great medicine that was made illegal only because of political reasons.

But, I don't smoke it due to it being illegal.

I went to college for Criminal Justice and currently work as a security officer. I feel that it is a great thing to have and use if a person uses it sensibly.

Legalization of marijuana and prostitution should be considered. But prostitution is another subject...both have their draw backs and positive aspects. I could write a book on these subjects, just me.  lol

For now, if you can get away with it, do it....just don't become stupid off from that sh*t. Too much WILL harm the brain, after all.

    Rock on, dude!

    lol

  8. yay.

people get drunk all the time, and people smoke ciggs all the time.

weed gives you a high that is less violent than drunkeness and is less dangerous and less carcinogenic than cigarettes.

plus, with weed's legalization, the government can help set standards for it.  by legalization, all the drug cartels that make money off of weed would disappear too.

the mafia's business with alcohol went away when alcohol was made legal, so drug cartels' powers maintained by the solicitation of weed will go away as well.

yes, the mafia is still around, and yes the cartels will still be around, but at least, their profit margins are cut due to the government allowing the sell of weed.

and no, i am not a pothead.  i just happened to do a research project for this.

heck, i've only tried weed once in my life, and it's not that great.

  9. It's a weed, do you have any idea how easy it is to grow your own? In other words, the government can tax it if someones selling it to you, but it's easier to grow your own than to buy it. Which is probably why it is illegal. Alcohol and tobacco, while they can be done on a small scale, mostly rely on large scale operations to make them cheap and easy to obtain. Therefore, they are easy to control and tax because they are easy to centralize.

If it were as easy as tossing a seed in the ground to make a frosty beer, then that would probably be illegal too.

I am not a smoker myself. I enjoy life too much and dislike the idea of death to breathe in any more smoke than I absolutely have to. But, I feel that the idea of criminalizing something like marijuana while so many other drugs that are more harmful and mind-altering are legal and encouraged is hypocrisy in the worst degree.

  10. If you want your brain to end up like Swiss cheese, and your genes to be deformed, that's your concern, but why should the government legalise it, thereby implying it is harmless? We have enough trouble with tobacco and alcohol, as it is.
