Question:

Weeds. nettles and chickweed. has anyone tried these?

as wildfoods and if so, what way did you prepare them. thanks

  1. I haven't tried any of them but I think nettles can be boiled.  Dandelion leaves can be added to salads but they have a bit of a reputation, don't they?  Best of luck with them if you try them.


  2. Nettles can make very good soup. Pick the youngest ones(with gloves on) wash them then make the soup with onions  potato cooked in Chicken broth tablets. Add nettles and cook till all tender, then put in food crusher and there is your soup. Very good to add a little cream when heat ing up . Of course season well with salt and pepper. Hope you enjoy it.

  3. It's a bit late for nettles... you should eat the young ones in spring when they fist come up. Boil them, and then drain the water and use in salads. We don't have chickweed in our area.
