Weekend Romance to top off a good season on a high note in the Jammed Lovely Stakes
The 3-year-old Annecchini and D’Alimonte Holdings owned filly, Weekend Romance has done a tremendous job against the Ontario sired company this season by registering three wins against the Ontario bred 3-year-old fillies.
Catherine Day Phillips trained filly is now pointed toward the $150,000 Jammed Lovely Stakes which is run over a distance of seven furlongs. The sprint has reeled in five other 3-year-old fillies and they are all Ontario bred, which gives Weekend Romance
another opportunity to down the lot and get back to his old form against them.
The race will be held at Woodbine racecourse on 16 November, 2011. The daughter of Old Forester, Weekend Romance started her 3-year-old career late in the season, but it was a successful one nonetheless.
She posted a win in her season opener in an allowance race over Woodbine’s synthetic surface on 12 June, 2011. The filly completed the 6 furlong dash under J Jones in 1 minute and 9.78 seconds while defeating Posh Sox and Olivia’s Song, who finished second
and third, respectively.
Weekend Romance wasn’t planning to stop just there as she was entered in another allowance race over at seven furlongs against 3-year-old and above fillies on June 30, 2011, under jockey J Jones.
It was her turf debut, as Weekend Romance came off the pace to win it, defeating Robnpetertopaypaul and Executive Bonnie on the way with winning time of 1 minute and 21.30 seconds.
In the seven furlong long Passing Mood Stakes, Weekend Romance was now 2 wins in as many starts going for her hat-trick on 23 July, 2011, over at Woodbine’s turf course.
It was a different approach from Weekend Romance this time as she jumped on to the lead and never looked back while setting fast fractions to win the race by half a length.
It was mission accomplished for Weekend Romance after a perfect start to the season with 3 consecutive wins all in Ontario bred company. Weekend Romance in all of her 3 wins earned a Beyer Speed Figure in the low 80’s each time.
The filly will be coming off a second place finish in the six and a half furlong long allowance claimer into the Lovely Jammed Stakes.
