I'm looking to take my wife for a romantic weekend get-away one weekend in July. Any ideas for a good place in Ontario?

  1. I would go to Niagara-on-the-lake. It is a small town outside of Niagara Falls.  It is full of beautiful b&bs. It has a charming mainstreet and park area. You can walk along the lake, which is beautiful too. There's tons of beautiful older houses in the area to walk by.

You have to watch out though, because all of this is quite pricey. Additionally, if you are a younger couple (younger than say 35), this may be a bit too laid back for you. It's still very romantic, and if you are young, you can take a day trip to the Niagara Falls area.

Niagara Falls is nice, but it's commercial romantic. It's very much big hotels, casinos, and crowds. Niagara-on-the-lake is more laid back.

Niagara-on-the-lake is also really close to many major wineries where you can take a wine tour.

  2. there are tones of bed and breakfast type places in Ontario. depends if u want to go to northern Ontario or southern Ontario. in the north Muskoka and Perry Sound are good places to go to for a romantic get away. there is also southern Ontario such as Niagra Falls and Niagra on the Lake (the latter is wine a region in Ontario also with some really good restaraunts). my boyfriend and I spent a wonderful weekend in the Marriot hotel in Niagra Falls. the weather wasn't the best at the time but it was still fun and romantic.

  3. Rent a cottege in Muskoka! Beautiful there.

  4. It depends what you like, how much you like driving, etc.  Ontario is full of all sorts of interesting places.  If you're not from the area, even downtown Toronto would be nice.

How about a drive up to Ottawa?  That's a nice quiet city with old stylish buildings.  One side of the river is English Canada, the other French.

    Camping in Algonquin Park?

Drive out to Sand Banks park, enjoying rural Ontario and Ontario's own sand dunes?

Niagara Falls?  Niagara-on-the-Lake, a trip down to Buffalo.

Dinner at the CN Tower, looking over a huge area?

Canoeing at any of the multitude of lakes Muskoka and north of?

  5. Niagara falls is ideal if you get a falls view room. Subscribe to travelzoo.ca newsletter and they have deals all the time to niagara falls.

Delta hotel in haliburton seems good but never tried.

IF you plan to stay in Toronto there lot of must see sites in toronto. For complete list:

  6. Niagara Falls. Ontario's wine industry is in that area so while not the same as Napa they do have something similar. There is also the Shaw Festival in the area. Rent a convertible if you don't own one.

Stratford festival if she is into plays.

Muskoka has some nice resorts / couple spas. There is also a nice couples spa near Ottawa on the QC side.

Little further but Quebec City is having a lot of stuff going on this summer.

If you don't live in Toronto even just getting a nice upmarket boutique hotel room and going to some nice resteraunts would be good.
