Weekend getaway..?

my friends birthday is in june and we were thinking about going to somewhere in the carribean for the weekend of her birthday. We were thinking about going to jamaica, but it would be pretty expensive to really only be there for 1 full day...any other suggestions? we live in florida and want to go somewhere tropical, but not the bahamas

Key West is as island as you can get..Drive there or take a bus.

You could do Jamaica if you stay at a resort in Montego Bay.  Negril or Ocho Rios are at least an hour away from the airport.

I'm not sure it's worth it for a weekend though - lot's of travel related time that will eat up hours of your weekend, and like you said - expensive.

You already live in (or close to) a tropical area, why not save the airfare and spend the money on a nice resort you can drive to. Maybe a place down in Key West?

Take Friday off for the road trip - stay Fri & Sat night, then drive home Sunday?   Just a thought.

You could try Turks and Caicos Islands,

it is perfect for just a couple days yet so much to do,

You could stay at The Sands or The Royal West Indies Resort.  It is all about the sun, sea and sand, I live there. Go to Providenciales aka Provo which  is in the Turks and Caicos
