Weekend in Glasgow?

Hi I'm heading up to Glasgow this weekend for a break. My friend and I are staying at Glynhill hotel (J26) and would like info on places to go, eat and pubs to visit, no where too expensive, we're on a budget weekend.

We're planning on getting a taxi into the town centre but would like to know if there is one particular street or area to go to some decent pubs - we'd prefer to stay within the same area as we're not to familuar with Glasgow at night.

Any ideas to places to visit Saturday/Sunday during the date would be great. Also any suggestions as to where we could start the night off and finish off, we're both 25 but not so much into the whole clubbing scene but would like a mix of quiet to lively pubs to visit.

And recommendations as to where to get a taxi at the end of the night would be fab, thanks.

Any suggestions welcome.

  1. Check the directory in the hotel room (if there is one) or ask in the hotel lobby.  You could also look here for some ideas:

  2. have you booked ie paid for your hotel upfront...??

if not there are lots of places situated better... within the city centre and that will save you money on taxi's etc...

The city centre is teaming with bars/pubs/restaurants/ you can take your pick.. its a good city for getting around ... if you stay within the central area...  Waxy O'Connors for instance is just off

George Square... but trust me you will be spoilt for choice...

the hotel your staying in is near the airport and thats about 7 miles out of the city....  .  but your hotel might have a courtesy bus..  the Holiday Inn at the airport offer this...

but no matter what ..you'll love Glasgow...

Sauchiehall Street... Buchanan Street..(Princess Square is on Buchanan St).

and an area called Merchant City  (east of George Square)  offers lots of fab places... .. you can check prices before you venture in...  all the places I mention can easily be found on foot...
