Weekend sports?

I grew up in a town of about 8000 people and on Sunday afternoon a bunch of people that were highschoolers or brave junior highschoolers or people that had just graduated would get together and play football, or if there werent that many people, baseball. It was just something that we did every week unless it was too cold. we all knew we were going to play, and people just showed up.

I was just wondering if kids still do that anywhere or do they just get on here and ask 'how good am I' and 'am i going to the MLB'?

Also, if you are older, did you ever have a weekly game or anything like it when you were younger.

just wondering.

thanks

  1. I grew up in the same kind of town and loved the 3 on 3 basketball or the wiffle tennis.  I don't know if kids now do the same, but when we are all home for the holidays at any time of year, we get together and play.  The wiffle ball games now are serious.

During the summer we would each get together 5 or 10 bucks and put it in a pot.  We would do an Olympics type thing where everything from home run derby to Marco f'ing Polo (with taped goggles) was played to determine the best of the day.  We would have tally sheets.  Science d**n that was a good time...

  2. They play against each other online with XBox live.

Its sad. I wish I had grown up in a small town like that.
