Weeks 7 Ligue 1 2011/2012: Bordeaux 1-1 LOSC Lille - Match analysis
Stade Chaban Delmas saw reigning Ligue 1 champions LOSC Lille Metropole play an under pressure Girondins de Bordeaux side that is currently going through a fairly rough ride.
Lille played the game on the back of two consecutive draws in all competitions. In both their draw, Les Dogues had taken the lead only two see it cut short by late goals. last night’s outing was no different in terms of the final score as Rudi Garcia’s men
were held to a 1-1 draw by Francis Gillot’s Bordeaux.
Cheick Diabate gave the home side the lead after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Florent-Balmont-c13837 gave away a penalty kick. The first half was equally dominated by both teams but it was Bordeaux who made more use of the ball and created lots of chances.
Les Dogues on the other hand were wasteful while in possession of the ball and could be accused for losing the ball on too many occasions in the first half. Eden Hazard was also not at his best and could not get a stranglehold of the match.
Bordeaux captain, Jaroslav Plasil was anchoring the midfield for Les Girondins and did well to contain the threat of Hazard who had a relatively quiet first half according to his standards. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Moussa-Sow-c26939’s presence was near to nonexistent in the Bordeaux half
and the Senegalese was not able to test the Bordeaux defence like he did in the previous two Lille games.
Sane and Maurice-Belay both tested the Lille goalkeeper and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Francis-c13946 Gillot was visibly pleased with his team’s efforts in the first period. At the weekend, Bordeaux were leading 2-0 against Toulouse away from home. However, much to the annoyance of Gillot,
the side’s defence collapsed and conceded three goals against TFC.
After the break, Lille slowly started coming back into the game and started dominating things in the middle of the park. Keeper Kevin Olimpa was called on to deny Hazard and Sow in the 47th and 49th minutes respectively.
Stats showed that Les Dogues had 60% of possession at the start of the second period and the side from Northern http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eden-Hazard-c11863’s first shot on target of the game resulted in an equaliser.
The goal gave fresh impetuous to the Lille attack and the Hazard-Balmont-Cole trio was effective in keeping hold of the ball throughout the second half. Though Bordeaux defence was put under constant pressure, the offensive ineffectiveness of the French
champions was the main reason why the attack remained impotent after the equaliser.
Moussa Sow, who is usually such a major threat in the air, was deemed ineffective by the Bordeaux defence and had just one shot on target in the entire match.
Rudi Garcia’s men were lucky not to have conceded a goal. Tremoulinas and Diabate came close to restoring the home side’s advantage in the 60th and 66th minutes respectively but Landreau made sure that Lille left Stade Chaban Delmas
with a point.
Bordeaux verdict
All week, Francis Gillot has criticised his defence for not putting in a strong effort to compliment the work ethic of the strikers. However, the Frenchman was reasonably satisfied and even gave his players an uncharacteristically wide smile after the final
whistle.
Bordeaux are not in 12th place for the time being and Gillot would be hoping that a great result against the champions would be a good thing for his side’s fortunes this season.
Lille
Rudi Garcia knows that after failing to win in the last three games, his side has a lot of work to do if they are to win any silverware this season. Already the league table is becoming interesting and Lille’s recently developed habit of dropping points
might hurt them in the latter stages of the game.
Man of the match
Though he had a relatively quiet first half, Eden Hazard once again proved to be the man for Lille and scored the equaliser in the second half. The youngster forced left-back Benoit Tremoulinas to defend more often than not and struck a great partnership
with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 who is not slowly showing signs of settling in at the club.
