Weemissfrankie fast and frantic at Santa Anita where she turned in a five furlong work before the Breeders’ Cup

The unbeaten 2-year-old filly Weemissfrankie inclusion in the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies spelled loss for the rest of the field, as she would love to go 4 of 4 coming off an impressive winning streak.
Peter Eurton trained New York bred Weemissfrankie broke her maiden over at five furlongs at Del Mar on 20 July 2011, in the process defeating Lady Fairbanks and Love My Way who finished second and third, respectively, while the winner covered the distance
in 58.39 seconds under R Bejarano.
She introduced herself to the North American racing arena with a band, and was ready to attain the grade 1 status in her second go, when her connections pointed her toward the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante on 3 September, 2011.
Over at seven furlongs, Weemissfrankie was up against another agile, fast and furious Self Preservation, and it was going to be a tough task for the daughter of Sunriver, out of Starinthemeadow by Meadowlake.
The juvenile filly responded like a true champion as she romped past her opponents, leaving Self Preservation behind to win the Grade 1 Del Mar Debutante with the winning time of 1 minute and 23.20 seconds.
Arriving at the Santa Anita Park on 2 October, 2011, solely for one reason, to win the Grade 1 Oak Leaf Stakes. Now, Weemissfrankie had to put up with 2 significant changes, first off all switching from poly track to dirt for the Oak Leaf, and being stretched
out to 1 1/16 miles after 5 furlong and 7 furlong dash.
Nonetheless, anyone who thought it was going to pose a problem for the filly would have felt naïve, because she didn’t let any of it get to her and bagged her hat trick by winning the Oak Leaf Stakes with the winning time of 1 minute and 42.92 seconds.
Weemissfrankie turned in her final workout on 28 October, before the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Churchill Downs, as she zipped five furlongs in 59.20 seconds.
Trainer Peter Eurton thought that the track was fast, but after confirming with the clocker’s, Weemissfrankie turned in the second fastest work out of 44 others at the same distance
