Question:

Weening myself off of glasses?

I have an extremely low glasses prescription. I got glasses to wear at night when driving, and during class because I can't read far away. I got used to wearing the glasses all the time, and now I find that I can't go anywhere without them because it makes my eyes hurt.

Is there anyway to ween myself off of these glasses? I could see just fine without them!

If so, how long would it take?

  1. The only thing you'll 'ween' yourself 'off of' is your time spent using your best corrected visual acuity- not wearing glasses wont fix anything, but it WILL force you to function with less vision. Your prescription has likely changed, you haven't done anything wrong.

  2. Your eyes are getting worse- you don't get accustomed to glasses, wearing them more or less won't WEAN you off them.

  3. you are kind of pretty but your mouth is weird in that picture!  i'd give you a 7!

  4. Glasses and other artificial corrections make us more and more dependant upon them.

When we feel pain it usually indcates that we are straining to see. We believe that if we use more effort with our vision that we will be able to see clearly. Effort actually interferes with our vision and makes it blurry.

We want to think about let letting our visual attention roam what we see like a dog on a retractible leash. We also want to let our interest go from smaller detail to smaller detail in an exploration.

If you want to learn more, look for relearning the principles of natural perfect eyesight and unlearning the incorrect vision habits. Avoid eye exercises or pushups, they are a waste of time and give people a wrong impression of our natural eyesight.
