Wei Feng Chong delivers a stunner against Lee Hyun Il in 2013 Djarum Superliga Badminton
The spirited Men’s Singles shuttler Wei Feng Chong served notice of his potential and thrashed Lee Hyun Il in Djarum Superliga Badminton series on February 9, 2013.
This short-lived but hard fought tussle remained in full swing for 45 minutes in the local badminton arena of Surabaya, Indonesia.
Both contenders challenged each other in all areas of the game and earned great deal of admiration while piling final figures of 21-15 and 21-19.
Though, Lee had better odds to win this encounter but he failed to live up to the expectations and crashed out.
On the other hand, Wei Feng amazed every one with his blistering performance and earned a valuable point for Malaysia Tigers Badminton Club.
He laid foundation of his victory immediately in the first set and sealed a splendid win by prevailing in second set also.
In the opening game, he launched a brisk attack and confounded the seasoned Korean player with a series of power packed strokes.
He bagged many valuable points without any interruption and doubled his total to finish first half of the set with an upper hand.
After the mid-game break, Wei Feng lost focus for a short span of time and this fumble allowed Lee to proceed on the points table.
The Korean campaigner, who was playing for PB Musica Champion club, narrowed the gap but he could not tip the scale in his favour.
His fluctuated performance proved the biggest hurdle for him and he gave up this futile chase after reading 15-21 score.
The following game was not a one-sided affair as it started with couple of gruelling rallies and kept the audience intact until last shot was played.
Initially, Lee employed all of his experience in the game and did not allow his rival to gain a decent advantage. Both contenders remained toe-to-toe all the way to half time.
Latter part of the game saw them making every effort to leave the opponent far behind but neither of them could enjoy a permanent lead.
Finally, this nerve-racking contest ended when Wei Feng registered a winning margin of 21-19. With this win, he bagged first match point for Malaysia Tigers.
