The last time the Black Yellows won the competition was in 1997. However, he claimed that they can take inspiration from their recent games against Der FCB. The player stated that Bayern have played great football this term. Therefore,
the BVB will have to be in perfect shape to defeat them to the title.
"Bayern have played a perfect season and we will need a perfect day to beat them," he was quoted as saying in an interview.
He further added that they beat Die Roten in the most recent final they played in the 2012 German cup and they still have fond memories of those times. Last season, Dortmund defeated Bayern a couple times in the league and cup
altogether. Also, they have been unbeaten against the Reds for some years now.

"We have not lost a league match against Munich for a number of years," he mused.

“It is certainly more heated between both teams, there is more at stake, the fans want to see this passion, and emotions are simply part of it," the BVB custodian finally concluded.
Weidenfeller also shared his views on last week’s 1-1 draw between the two German giants. He suggested that both clubs share great rivalry as there is a lot at stake and the supporters love to see the heated passion. The custodian
