Question:

Weight Gain and Clothing Sizes...?

I know this is a dumb question, but I am entering recovery for anorexia, and my mom wants me to gain 10lbs. But today, she is taking me and my sisters shopping for school clothes. I used to love shopping, but i am dreading it now because i don't know what size to get. The size i wear now is kind of big on me, but i like it that way. My mom promises that even if i gain 10lbs, my clothes will still fit. In fact, she thinks they will look even better on me, but I'm not so sure. So if i gain around 10 lbs (im hoping some will be muscle), will i still fit into my clothes?

  1. You do know you are going to have to gain more than 10 pounds in the end, but right now just get whatever size fits you comfortably now.

  2. yes, they will fit

  3. Well, if your mom thinks so, then they probably will.

Congratulations on being in recovery. Don't get discouraged. You've got a long way to go before you're a healthy weight. Keep it up, and listen to your mom.

  4. Just curious as to why you prefer loose fitting clothing when you were Anorexic?

Most Anorexics wear tight clothing to make themselves look smaller.

Listen to your mother, she cares enough about you to let you know, be grateful for that.

And let me add dear if I may, 10 lbs. is a good start but you are unhealthy at your present weight and I know you know that already but 10 lbs. is not going to get you where you need to be.

But it is a good start, take baby steps.

  5. yes they will still fit but they wont be baggy. i am a recovering anorexic also and i gained 15 pounds and my clothes still fit me when i was 80 lbs. i am 5'5" btw. so dont worry and gain that weight! the sooner you gain the healthier you'll be! but make sure you recovery mentally too, or you might relapse! take care!

  6. You may go up a size, but you are going to look healthier and better. I hope you are getting some kind of therapy for your eating disorder.

  7. I have the same exact problem.

I need to gain 10lbs (Im alittle underweight) and when I went school shopping I just made sure I didnt get the things skin tight (like I normally wear them).

Like instead of XS I just got S (or medium if the clothes ran small).

Just think about what people look like when they gain 10lbs. Sure, theyre slightly chubbier, but its nothing major.

So, I reccomend getting something on the lose side, it worked for me.

    Good Luck :].
