Hello, I signed up at a local gym to slim down and build some muscle but my arms get tired too quickly. How can i build endurance to lift for longer periods? I started bench pressing light weights but even then after a few sets my arms gave out! I'm quite new at weightlifting so any tips will help, thanks!

  1. Don't give up, keep going and that will build endurance. It took me awhile too. Remember to eat properly. That is really important for your workout and recovery. It is good that you started with light weight because you need to get proper form down now. Keep going!

  2. Make sure you're eating enough protein.   Eat lean meats, tuna, egg whites, milk, protein shakes, etc.  to try and get your protein level to 1g of protein per pound of your body weight.

Also, another thing newcomers to weightlifting forget to do is breathe.  Breathe constantly.  I like to take one breath per repetition of a weight/exercise move.  That way your body gets enough oxygen to distribute to your muscles.
