I have not been training for 7months now.

Would it be a good idea to:

If you could please answer this, it would be great.

  1. Mixing the two would produce better results. Get a programme drawn up for you from a professional though.

  2. Both ways are a good start. You're young enough to where your stamina shouldnt be too much a problem but don't neglect roadwork. Get out and run 3-4 days a week. A mile or so to start would be good and also dont forget skipping rope 3-4 days a week. Very important 4 building stamina, leg and arm strenght and agility. Good Luck

  3. I dont see a problem in doing both at the same time.

  4. Core muscle work outs are very important and especially since your past 13 which is the age that your arteries begin to plaque with cholesterol.  Core work for your core muscles provides strength to your punches and core muscle work outs are very important to any boxer serious about contact sports.  Eating healthy meals is another key aspect of your work out routine as well though, as I've mentioned, your arteries begin to plaque with cholesterol at you age so watching what you allow to go into your gut is just as important as the high reps you'll need during any work out.  Sticking to the heavy bag, the double end bag, the slip bag, the speed bag, the upper cut bag, etc, etc, are all just as impotant as well for developing bobbing and weaving, fading and swaying and ducking and breaking skills as well as development in hand-eye coordination.  Weighting training ( Strength Training ) is a vital part of a boxer's daily routine man.

Hope that helps a little ..... good luck.

  5. do both

  6. For the sake of making life easier and less hectic for you, just stick to boxing. Weight-training requires a ton of dedication and helps your body in ways that may slow you down in boxing. Lifting weights makes you strong at moving slowly. "Explosive" in weight-lifting means lifting 300lbs in 1 second whereas "explosive" in boxing means swinging out 3 hard punches in 1 second. It's just not the same and to train your body for 2 different sports is actually kind of impossible.

There are however certain weight-lifting routines that can aid boxing but they aren't exactly "weight-training" routines.
