Question:

Weight Training/Creatine Question?

Many people have told me that weight training can stunt your growth and I believed it at every point of my life. But when I hit age 15, I decided to amp up my training for wrestling so I started weight lifting at my school.

I did it three times a week for about 50 minutes before class ended. I'm wondering that since I have done that, Have I Stunted My Growth?

Also, the Creatine question!

I heard that the use of Creatine will stunt your growth when you immediately start using it or maybe a week into it. But then there are people telling me that it's a load of bull and I have nothing to worry about. I want to confirm this.

Also, how fast does Creatine work? I really want to dominate next season during wrestling so I want to start using it A.S.A.P

  1. Greetings it is an accepted fact that fad diets are not worth the paper they're written on. I advise that you go to http://urlsnub.com/vyy its an amazing site with great free, sound advice. I lost 10 pounds in three weeks by using their methods

  2. You could weight lift, smoke 100 cigarettes, hang from an inversion bar and do a hundred other things that are said to affect your height and you wouldn't change a GD thing. Your height is dictated by your genetics.

Creatine works within 4-5 days if your body accepts it. Make sure you drink it with some type of juice (grape is good) to illicit an insulin repsonse which drives it into your muscles. I use 20 gs per day (spead over 4 does) for three days as a loading phase and then 5 g's per day for maintenance. Take it on a relatively empty stomach.

  3. Steroids can have an extreme effect on stunting growth. Other side effects include:

    • Severe acne

    • Baldness

    • Sleep problems

    • Headaches

    • Nausea and vomiting

    • Diarrhea

    • High blood pressure, heart disease and strokes

    • Liver damage

    • Aggressive, violent behavior

    • Severe mood swings (also depression and anxiety attacks)

    • Hallucinations and paranoia

Additionally, steroids cause males to produce less of their own testosterone, which can result in impotence, gynecomastia (increased breast size) and reduced sperm count. In females, steroids can lead to reduced breast size, deeper voice, increased facial and body hair, and menstrual problems.

Remember, athletic ability depends on more than just muscle mass. Genetics, age, diet, training, dedication, and perserverance all play a part in how a young adult plays sports. Using steroids or supplements is not only cheating, it can cause numerous health problems. Until safety can be established, I would discourage use.

  4. Weight lifting can damage the growth plates in your bones, and thus stunt your growth.  But you would have to be really young for this to happen.  If your 15 and your starting to lift, you wont harm yourself any.

Creatine wont stunt your growth.  Anabolic steriods will, but creatine isn't an anabolic steriod.  It will cause you to gain about 5 pounds the first week you take it.  This is water weight and not fat or muscle, but if your wrestling it may s***w up your weight class.

I take creatine.  I've noticed that when I'm in my loading phase it takes about 3 days before I really notice the effect.

And F.Y.I. creatine isn't band from professional sports or the olypics.

  5. Weight training will not stunt your growth.  If you want to amp up your training you need to make sure that your diet is clean first of all so that your muscles have the nutrients they need to grow that means the right amount of protein, the correct carbs, and fats.  Not all guys tolerate creatine products the same way.  One of the major effects is that your muscles hold alot of water which can be a problem in wrestling season when you need to drop a few pounds to make weight.  My advice is to try the cheapest product first and read the directions carefully and then follow them to the letter do not overdose yourself thinking you are going to get bigger faster

  6. Weightlifting will not stunt your growth, and the Creatine is OK when used correctly , it will not stunt your growth, it is not the steriod abuse as Ariel states above me!

I say in about a week you will notice some changes, goodluck for next season.

  7. Depending on when you hit puberty 15-16 is an okay age to start weight lifting. I've never heard anything about creatine stunting growth though.
