Weight Training Help?

Hello, I started going to the gym a week ago. I signed up to lose weight and also build some muscle, not bulk but just fit, but my main objective is to lose weight. I started dieting 2 weeks before going to the gym and i lost 6 lbs the first week and 5 lbs the second (i dont diet on weekends). So the first week that i go to the gym, This was my routine:

Mon: 1 hr weights, 30 min cardio.

Tue: 1 hr cardio

Wed: 1 hr weights, 30 min cardio

Thur: 1 hr cardio

Fri: 1 hr weights, 30 min cardio

I got excited because it was noticeable that i lost weight, my clothes fit lose, my muscles were showing better etc.. But when i get on the scale, it said i only lost 2 lbs.. That kind of disappointed me.. I kept my diet and worked out. What i think is that i lost fat but gained muscle hence not seeing major changes in the scale. What do you guys think or recommend? I am going to try doing only cardio and stop the weights for this week and see if i see different results in the scale.

  1. You only can lose 1-2lbs a week anything more you'll probably losing muscle mass.

Don't stop weight lifting continue doing your normal routine. If you only do cardio you'll look frail

Why don't you diet on the weekends, that's probably gonna hurt your weight loss.

  2. I'm surprised you saw a loss of anything this soon.  But dont lose heart youll likely lose another 2 or 3 next week.  And the week after that and so on.  Don't despair.  Most would kill to drop an average of 10-12 lbs per month.  You're on the right track

  3. continue with what your'e doing !

it will come down naturally ! ... congrads on your weight loss and don't give up !

  4. Brother..this is easy...you may be loosing weight..but your gaining muscle also..remember that muscle weights more than fat...so if you loose 1 lbs of fat..and gain 1 lbs of muscle...you will weight more on the scale...but you'll look much better....the best thing to do is to go by the MIRROR....
