Question:

Weight Watchers & Pregnancy ?

I just found out that i am pregnant. I am 5'7 (166cm) & weigh 91kg..so i am already 25kg overweight. I know doing weight watchers is a ' no no' during pregnancy ( as with any other weight loss program during pregnancy). BUT i have heard that 'watching your weight' & doing light exercise is good to avoid putting on much more weight.

Would it be good to do the POINTS program ( counting points for myself & the baby) that way i am not under-eating nor over-eating ??

I would usually have 22points without being pregnant..so i was thinking maybe 32 points while pregnant with light walking, leg & arm exercises ? Has anyone one else tried calorie control during pregnancy ? If so, I'd love to hear !

I understand that i need to gain weight during pregnancy..I just want to gain the 'baby weight' without adding additional kgs that i really DONT need. THANKS ! :-)

  1. I do not think counting points is a good idea during pregnancy.  You need to eat in order to have a healthy baby.  I would suggest talking to your doctor or a nutritionist for a healthy menu idea while pregnant.  Walking is ok and highly recommended.

  2. Ignore that 1300 calorie suggestion.  It is true that you need an extra 300 calories IF you are on a regular 2000 calorie a day diet.  You need 2300 calories a day for your growing baby.  This is one of those times you have to put your child before yourself and eat right

  3. I read that you technically only need 300 cal/day more than before you became pregnant. I wouldn't necessarily go on weight watchers, but def watch how much of what you are consuming. Try keeping it at 1300 cal/day. They say to lose weight drop to 1000 cal/day for best results without being unhealty. Then just add on the 300 your peanut needs and you should be fine!
