I am thinking on joining weight watchers.. i saw on kellymom.com they have a good program for lactating mothers and i need to loose about 40 pds but the healthy way. I was wondering would someone give me some advice on how it works and costs.... what are the extra cost other than the monthly fees (books)? How long do the classes usually last? I am a working mother and student and wife so I was wondering would i have the extra time to go to a meeting with trying to make time to work out too.

any info would be great.. please only write if you previously have used ww or are still using them.

Thanks

  1. Hi, I lost 85 pounds on Weight Watchers five years ago, and I still go to meetings every week as I feel like that helps me keep the weight off.  I pay online (it's automatically deducted from my credit card) and can therefore use all their online tools.  That's also the cheapest way.  It comes out to about $10 a week, I think.  The meetings last about 30 minutes and the building usually opens a half hour prior to the meeting time to begin weigh-ins.  There are no other costs unless you want to purchase cookbooks, WW foods, tools, etc.  You don't have to do that.  It's a good program.  I would certainly recommend it for long-term healthy weight loss.

The page below is called "Pregnancy Weight Loss" and may be helpful.  This is my favorite weight loss site.

  2. I've been on WW since 2003, becoming a Lifetime member in 2005.  Prices vary at locations and you could either attend meeting or use Weight Watchers on line.  Right now most locations have free registration and weekly cost varies from $10-15 week.  For your weekly meeting fees you get the basic program information, booklets and a cardbord point slider.  WW does offer additional materials - Dinning out books, calculators, snacks - but these extras are not required and you aren't pressured.  You can still follow the program completely with the basic information that is included in your weekly fees.  Some meeting locations also offer the Monthly pass that cost $39.95 - you get free registration, free eTools ($12.95 otherwise), and unlimited meetings.  Not all locations sell or accept monthly pass.  To find out if your location accepts the pass visit http://www.weightwatchers.com/util/mtf/i... and find a meeting using your zip.   Meeting usually last about 30- 45 minutes and meeting open 30 minutes early for registration and weigh in.  Your first meeting could last longer since the leaders go over the program with new members after the meeting.

Or the On line option cost $65 for 3 months or $46.90/monthly.  With the on line option you get all of your program information on line and weigh in at home.  On line users also have the option to buy the additonal program materials, but do have to pay a shipping charge.

Right now with there being free registration, try the meetings.  You get a lot of information and the program explained to you. You aren't required to stay with the meetings for a certain period of time and can always switch to on line later.

Good luck and if you have any other questions I will more than happy to help.

  3. Both myself and my mom tried weight watcher. It didn't really work that well for us. I have tried a lot of things and one site that I found that has helped me the most is http://www.healthy-body-ingredients.com I use their natural appetite control and it works great. I still eat the meals that I want, but it helps to make me not eat as much. I also take some of their vitamins and have noticed a big  difference in my energy and how I feel. My mom has also had very good results from here.
