Weight belt?

does anyone know how to make a weight belt, like for snorkeling, out of common househlod items? I already have those ankle weights.

  1. Wow that's an interesting question. I am a PADI Scuba instructor and never heard of anyone making their own weightbelts before. If they are not available in your area I still suggest you order them online or through the mail.

    One of the key features of the store bought weightbelt is that it has a quick release buckle. In the unfortunate event that you need to dump your belt, it is easy to remove. They are not that expensive and are of good quality. I highly recommend stainless steel buckles over plastic. Generally they last longer. All our rentals are stainless.

    As you probibly already discovered the ankle weights tend to make your legs sink while you are prone position on the surface. It's better to get weights that go on you midsection.

  2. To be honest you are best off buying one as you have to get the correct weights. It is all to do with displacement. what you could try is getting some steel nuts of all the same size and put them into pouches eitherside of your body.
