Just wondering how much weight all together did you put on?

  1. My first pregnancy I put on about 20ish kg, my second it was around 13 kg, so far with this one it has been 16 kg.

My Sister in law has had two children and each time she gained over 30kg, she still ate healthy and exercised everyday but she retained a lot of fluid, she also lost about 15 kg in the first couple of weeks after the birth, lol.

BMI is not a problem during pregnancy because there is a baby involved in your weight gain too, as well as increased blood, fluid and fat stores (essential if you want to breastfeed). By all means try and keep the weight gain down, but don't try to lose weight, it isn't good for the baby. If you eat well after, exercise and even breast feed the weight will come off pretty quickly.

  2. 10-13 kg is the "normal range".. Many women gain more from the cravings and such..but you should lay off the chocolate...

Caffeine during pregnancy is something to steer clear of. The American Pregnancy Association web site lists caffeine on its page of foods to avoid during pregnancy, and has another page entirely devoted to caffeine and pregnancy. Babycenter quotes the March of Dimes in cautioning women against "high caffeine consumption." And WebMD cites a study suggesting a link between "very high coffee consumption" and a higher risk of stillbirth.

Chocolate certainly contains caffeine. How much can vary like crazy from bar to bar, depending on the brand and whether it's milk or dark. An ounce of dark chocolate can have anywhere between five and 35 milligrams of caffeine; milk has much less, running between one and fifteen milligrams of caffeine per ounce.

Coffee, tea, and pop also contain caffeine and should be avoided

Caffeine is a drug the same as nicotine or alcohol so please try to keep in in minimal quantities..it isn't good for the baby...

not to mention the baby could go through caffeine withdrawal when born, which probably won't kill the baby, but it makes for a hard beginning..

    Congrats BTW :o)

  3. I heard from my aunt when she went to see the doc, he told her that she shouldn't gain anything more than 6-10kg. Eat normally, maybe cut down on the chocolates?

  4. Baby, when you're pregnant you're eating for two! It's completely normal to have cravings and put on some weight. Be careful don't eat anything with: caffeine or alcohol. Don't smoke and try not to be in areas with smoke. When my cousin was pregnant she put almost 20 kg. Don't worry! Just try to eat healthy foods and good job on those vitamins!
