Question:

Weight loss affects tattoo?

I'm going to get a tattoo in 2 or 1 week and i weight a healthy 128. (I'm 5'3")

its going to be a tattoo on my hip, probably a butterfly, and maybe a flower stem that stretches a lil longer from under my pantie to a lil higher than my collar bone.

But I do plan on losing about 10 pounds this year (i'm already on diet now and i'm going to start exercising)

So I wanted to know if that would affect or distort my tattoo?

Because if it will, then I think I will postpone it to 2 months.

thanks - Rainny

(btw my waist will probably be about 5 inches smaller once i lose the weight.

  1. poeple say it will look weird but it doesnt. i lost 14 kilos last year and my tattoo (in the same place as yours) has stayed the same.

Plus my friend had a baby and evrything and the tat has still stayed the same.

    good luck

  2. Weight gain or loss can affect tattoos. Consider where you are having it placed, and if that part of your body is typically affected when you gain/lose weight. A minor amount up or down shouldn't be a problem, but a large amount of gain or loss can stretch the skin (and thus the tattoo) or leave flabby skin and thus affect your tattoo.

I don't see that 10 lbs would be an issue, since that 10 lbs isn't going to all come from the area you want inked. You'll lose it from all over your body.

  3. this question has been asked before

and your tattoo ideas have been done millions of times

but of course it's your body, so I hope you enjoy whatever you get

generally, 10lbs isn't going to distort the tattoo

but none of us can tell you for sure

  4. Yes it does, you can notice the change more if you gain weight, I have a co-worker she had a butterfly on the back, by her butt, she's had it for a few years, now she's had 3 kids and it does not look the same, it does look streched out and faded.

Post some pics of the Tat. I'm sure we would all like to see it.

    Take care.

  5. gaining weight causing tatto to stretch out

losing weight causes it to shrink up

it is noticeable and depending on the design could be very noticeable
