Has anyone lost weight doing vollyball or have you gained weight but only in muscle? I am going to play volleyball for a semester and we practice 4 times a week for 2 hours and we have alot of games. Do you think I will lose weight? I am not doing volleyball just to lose weight, I honestly love the sport and this is only a added plus.

  1. It really depends...

You have to work very hard in your practice, and in your games.

And, you have to eat very carefully with healthy stuff, not "whatever", no fried food, no trans fat, not too much carb/sugar, blah blah blah (I know you'll be good :).

  2. Yup :) I practiced and played every day in the winter for about  10 hrs a week, and because of the intense exercise, you will find yourself a little slimmer. It also means that you can go home and eat pretty much whatever you want, you'll burn it off anyway!

  3. its still summer for us so we will all drop weight. we do 4 hours a day 5 days a week. and we cant eat any grease low sugar low fat low carb high protein high veggies and fruits. ha wonderful. so junk until the season is done

  4. i play for my highschool's guys varsity team. volleyball is an awesome sport to lose some weight, especially in the legs. you will prolly gain alot of muscle in your legs throughout the season, and i gotta tell ya, girls who play volleyball have the niccest legs lol

  5. no

  6. Weight can be lost if you are raising your heartbeat.  Weight loss is and should be more of a life style change.  Little changes can make a bif difference.  Rather than a bag of chips try a lighter snack such as pop corn.  Walk some where rather than drive.  These small changes along with volleyball can make a big difference.  You practice should consist of some cardio training, plyometrics and weight training if your coach has a clue.

    Short answer, Yes!

    Good luck.

  7. If you maintain a healthy diet you can lose weight, with every practice and game you're burning calories you wouldn't normally be burning.  As far as muscle is concerned you'll probably tone your muscles, making them tighter and a little more defined but I wouldn't suspect much weight gain, unless you go home and eat everything in sight.

  8. i think if you work really hard at it then yes you can easily i know that I've lost about 7 lbs playing volleyball these last 2 weeks but we do a lot of training so i would say yes unless the coaches are really easy on you.
