Weight question for courier?

I desperately want to purchace someyhing on ebay,and the seller says they weigh one stone .Does anyone know roughly how much this would cost? I live in Wales and the seller in Middelsbourough England. Any what courier would you suggest .Thank you for taking the time to read this .

  1. If you want it to be delivered same day it  would be much more expensive unless you are in a hurry.

    City link,FedEx,DHL, circle express are good.

    But try your local yellow pages as well.


  2. If it's packageable/boxable then Royal Mail Parcels will carry it for you. The problem with most of the courier services mentioned by the other answerer is that most courier companies aren't interested in one-offs, or maybe that was because we're a business, despite the fact we also sold on eBay. We had to open an account and pay by direct debit but they did take us on - Business Post we used and found them excellent. As suggested, your best bet is use the yellow pages or a good search engine (yell.com is also very good!) and phone round and ask.

    All I can tell you by way of guidance on your quote is that I sent 9 parts of a collection from Manchester to Dorset and despite a weight of 207 Kgs, it cost me just over £63 which I'm sure you realise is very good. Of course your order is nothing like as heavy as that and most courier companies will charge you based on weight rather than distance more than likely.
